    Gearbox Removal with Engine In?

I've got a mk2 RS2000 which I'm running a type E gearbox and an RS Bell housing on and I need to drop them off with the engine in place as i've either done the clutch or gearbox input shaft on the Ystwth Targa rally at the weekend.

Now from memory I seem to remember that you can drop the WCXM member down with the engine attached by using longer bolts, does anyone know how far the engine has to drop to allow the bell housing to disengage before it hits the bulkhead??

Any assistance would be much appreciated

    Mick

Vaguely remember doing this with mine many years ago. Think I replaced the bolts with some lengths of studding, still had to drop it down a long way from memory 5-6" maybe, 125-150mm in new money...

Don't forget to remove the top and bottom hoses along with the fuel pipe.

Also don't get too medieval whilst removing the box / clutch whilst hanging on long drop bolts as the nuts inside the chassis rails are only tacked for retention and any rocking can crack the welds!
