S1 Diff bearings - what code

    Howdo,
I have a S1 LSD in my 4-speed BC box and it needs new diff bearings.
does anybody know the code so I can buy some before I go to take the box apart, i've nowhere to do the work as it is and don't fancy leaving parts on the garage floor while I go out to get the stuff.
    also, wheres best for gaskets?

I got bearings, gaskets and seals from here, as they looked the best on price:

Parts all look good, but I haven't got around to putting it back together yet.

This image and text is only on their ebay listings, but should help decide which bearings you need:
... IF YOU HAVE GOT AN UPRATED BC GEARBOX YOU WILL SEE A CORE PLUG AS SHOWN IN PICTURE ... 90% OF THE BC GEARBOXES ARE STANDARD .THE UPRATED GEARBOX WAS BUILT FOR AROUND TWO YEARS BEFORE BEING REPLACED WITH THE IB5

Correct - the uprated bearings are larger, so won't fit in the older gearbox casing.

Not sure if it's possible to machine the casing to take some or all of the larger bearings - I haven't looked in to this.
Better option might be to rebuild in to a later casing, but they are probably all 5 speed, and don't have the front mounting that is needed for some cars. I think it's only the large (engine side) section of the housing that was changed though, so you may be able to just change that side of the housing. This is just a suggestion though - I don't know if it can be done, or if it's worth the effort to upgrade from the standard bearings.

    thanks, appreciate the help
I'll stick with my casing as any 5-speed box requires a cut out in the chassis leg of my mk1 fiesta. i'm only aiming for 120bhp max so standard will be more than upto the job.

    cheers fella
