YB Cosworth head on 205 pinto -advice please.
Hi, am after some advice if possible please.
have got a slightly overskimmed YB head, complete with cams etc, and a complete 205 Pinto Engine. What am i gonna need to marry the 2 and make an NA Pinto/YB?
I'm assuming I'll need different pistons/rods to bring the compression up, or can I use stock pinto?
I found these on eBay
https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https...zUFc7Cpbw4_wQw
but they mention different rod lengths (128.50mm and 136.00mm) and I'm unsure what length I would require. I was hoping to use the stock pinto crank and flywheel etc.
any input would be appreciated.

oh dear this one again!
you cant use stock pinto pistons, well let me rephrase that, you can but only if you machine valve cut outs in them first, but even then the compression will be too low to make any sort of real power. likewise the standard turbo cams will be rubbish in N/a application, so you will have to buy new cams, but then you will need different pistons to get enough compression to make the cams work, even then you wont have any real power unless you have some radical porting work done on the head.
it will be far cheaper and easier to sell the yb head and fit a decent head and cam to your pinto, and your probably end up with more power!

My advice is what you are trying to do is dont bother as the NA Cosworth engine is a poor engine as everything was intended for turbo use. We have had many of them from the very early nineties in various specifications, they are just a money pit and they give poor power and torque for the ammount of money spent.
You'd be better off spending your money on a decent Pinto head and cam or fit a more modern engine like the Duratec.
