Wilwood Clutch Master Cylinder to Type 9

Does anyone here know of the Wilwood? I bought a car that has this fitted for the Type 9 to a Zetec engine, i have no idea what is in the gearbox, but when i got the car the clutch was stiff, but working, the clutch has got heavier and heavier to push and today on the driveway it seized completely.

ive now removed the cylinder, and once removed it was still stuck, but having removed the rubber and given it some persuasion it is moving (having had a lot of black liquid coming out) but is very hard.

Should the wilwood cylinders be hard to push? is that the nature of the cylinder or should they move a little more freely... im not sure whether this has packed up or if its just stiff?

    Any help much appreciated

Some pictures of the install may help as this sounds 'not standard' clutch actuation! The usual is a hydraulic cylinder that sits in the BH around the input shaft .........

a Willwood cylinder is no harder to push than a Girling, AP or any other make of cylinder, cylinders are prone to corrosion and seizing through lack of use. black liquid is most likely brake fluid contaminated with worn seal and or metal from the piston/cylinder walls .

sounds like you need a new cylinder, it may be its the wrong size for the application which is why its always been heavy

That what i was thinking.... now ive taken it apart, the spring is really noisy and the dark grey/ black oil has built up around the end of the piston(? the bit you push) and is quite thick. The car, before i purchased it has been sitting around for over 18months, so maybe makes sense.

I think i'll buy a new one, i currently have the 0.75, so maybe go for the smaller one?

0.75 is too big for a clutch, use 0.6

in fact im considering swapping the .06 (16mm) cylinder on my car for a 15mm to lighten the clutch and give a bit more feel

Thats interesting... i hope it hasnt damaged the clutch?!

So the .6 is best or the 15mm?

Am i right in thinking that you need to have a slightly longer stroke with the smaller cylinder?

The stroke will be the same but the biting point will be a bit lower and the clutch should be more progressive
