Fitting GAZ inserts Mk1 Capri
Hi folks,
I’ve recently bought a set of GAZ inserts for my Mk1 Capri. What I thought should quite simple is becoming annoying.
My capri started life as a humble 1300 German built french spec car. Built 09-72 so I ordered inserts that were for that age of Capri.
Luckily the car is very low miles and I managed to strip the guts out of the strut with no issues.
when I came to fitting the insert I noticed that the big nut supplied with the inserts weren’t the same thread. The original nuts have a much finer thread on them than the ones supplied...
...simple I thought use the old nuts...
...but they don’t screw in that far with the inserts in a place. They only screw in about 5mm before they tighten up against the insert.
any ideas?

Ring Gaz and ask them if they have alternative screw caps they can send you.
