    Help to Identify Cosworth Cams

    Hi,

It has been quite a long time since I have posted here but after a long time away from engines, I have started a new build. Recently I acquired a Normally aspirated Cosworth YB cylinder head which was supposed to have been fitted to a 2.4 bottom end and made 285bhp before the engine blew up in a big way causing quite a bit of damage to the head. I am not really concerned about power but I would like to identify the cams that are fitted to the engine.

I have tried my old friend Google but cannot come up with anything so hopefully someone here might have some insight. Here are the photos of the markings on the back of the two cams

    Any info would be great.

    Rgds

    Thanks Graham,

I was looking in the Kent cams web site but searched for an A10 profile rather than a DA10.

Have you any experience with this cam? is it any good

I am planning to try to refurb the damaged head that the cams are in even though the damage is quite bad. I will start a thread in the engine building section when I start the work on it. It will only be used in a road car, not a rally car in the future so the cams seem a bit wild for the application.

    regards
    Tom

I'm guess anything with 312 degrees of timing will be quite extreme and not suited for 'shopping'

Maybe I like going around the Tesco car park in 1st gear at 5000+ RPMs

For sure it would be better to get some cams that are suitable for the application and a bit easier to drive.

Great to be back with a new project. It has been too long. I will do a post on the renovations on the head and building the engine when I get back from holidays

Interested to see how this build goes.

Can you picture head before and after its repair

Are you going to try the high lift cams then go down to 260-270 if no good?

Re: Help to Identify Cosworth Cams

I will post the before and after photos. Before does not look too good so hopefully the after will be somewhat better.

I will see what I can do with the cams I have first before I start looking for some new cams.
