    Is it 1300 or 1600

    Hi All

Im brand new here and hoping you all might be able to help me
Im pretty much a novice in this world but have just bought my first Mk1 2 door (since my last one in 1986)

This is going to be a fairly long term project for me but my first obstacle is identifying what engine I have
The log book states its a 1300 and its a South African built car
However the UK seller stated that it was a 1600 but I first need to confirm what it is before I move on to the next stage

The numbers on the side of the block are JB10752M

Can anyone decode this for me

I will try and attach some photos to help in the identity process

Here is the engine bay as it stands

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The easiest defineing telltale sign is the whole in the front of the block (for waterpump) is about w5mm away from cylinder head line on a 1600.
1300 block, the whole is virtually on the cylinder hear line.

Re: Is it 1300 or 1600

    Thanks for the info

Does anyone have any General Assembly drawings of either a 1300 or 1600 (or both) engine detailing what parts I should have and how I should expect to see them laid out and connected.

For example, the carb is not fitted (I suspect it’s not the right one) and I’m unsure what connections should be made to it and the manifold etc
i know there should be some vac hoses somewhere, some connections between rocker and carb etc, from carb to distributor and so on

would be a great help until I find some maintenance manuals

    thanks

Yes you have a 1600. Very difficult to explain carb, vaccum, manifold set ups on here.
