    MK2 Rescue and Fixy Uppa

Righto, here we go again. I got this dirty old MK2 from out of a paddock a month or so ago. It was sitting on its rails in the mud just rotting away. I got it off a mate who had bought it to poach all the running gear out of it and had no use for the shell so he ditched it a few years ago. It came up again a few months ago when we were talking about espies and I said I would come and get it if he didn’t want it. Sorry for the recap, but now the project has begun I will post it from start to finish. Anyway, with no plan yet, let’s see where this ends up..........

Now I’ve got it on the rotisserie, so I can get a better look at it. Thank god it pissed out so much oil that underneath was a bit protected.

Started stripping out the engine bay, looks like it might be an inner wing drivers side, both outer wings too and like always.. the heater bubble and bulkhead. I reckon one more year in the elements and she would have been too far gone. All underneath degreased, will sandblast tomorrow and see what happens.....

Cut off the front guard to see how far in the rust went, not too bad. Nearly all the rust is limited to well inside replacement panel specs.

Had enough working on the old busted ass, so took the good one for a quick run up the mountain. Gotta love driving an Escort up in the snow!

That really isn't bad considering it was sitting on the ground for so long - cutting and welding time now.

Yeah, the stripping is the easy part. Just doing a parts list up. After a few discussions about what to do with it, I’m pretty sure we are going to flat front X Pack this one. Something different that you just don’t see here. Had a chat with the bloke from Spoilertek in Queensland about the kits they do.
