GAZ Gold front struts - stub shaft size?

    Morning All

I've started to fit my new GAZ Gold front struts and whilst taking my old ones apart, removing the hubs and discs, I tried my old hubs onto the new struts/stub shafts and they didn't fit!
Now, as I pushed them on, they went on slightly then got stuck! I didn't try to force them on but it started to make me wonder/worry!
So, I measured my new stub shafts and then the internals of the new bearings (got new alloy hubs at the same time) and there seams to be a discrepancy between the 2!
I don't know if it's my cheap vernier or my ability but the stub shafts appear to be wider/larger circumference than the bearings.
I also did a comparison to my older Bilsteins and they read less than the new GAZ versions!?

Could this be a manufacturing mistake?
I'm going to reach out to GAZ but thought I would ask on here first. Anyone had this before/heard of it?

    Many thanks
    Cheers

They use the same stub axle and hubs as the twin cam and RS2000 struts.

    What have you got now?

If I understand correctly you could have Cortina alloy hubs which use slightly smaller bearings.
At some websites these are listed as std Mk2 Escort also but they don't fit.

Just to close the loop on this so it might help people in the future, I did reach out to Gaz and they confirmed they used the same size stub shafts as fitted to MK2 Escort RS2000 Uprights.
So, they were correct according to them but they physically measured different to what I already had.
They did say that when they anodised/coated the struts, sometimes the stub gets covered and they suggested using fine emery cloth and slowly take it down.

So, that's what I did, slowly took it down until the bearing fitted.

Definitely not happy with having to do it but didn't really have a choice

On a more positive note, had the car out on track about a month ago and it felt great with my new set up.
Last track day of the year Sunday so hoping for a full day of driving like crazy
    Cheers
