Great write up on the conversion mate, neat, tidy but best of all the car remains pretty much standard on the outside

Well least you found someone that did reply then

Keep up the good work and the updates coming

Re: My MK2 Escort. Soon to be 20v

    RH side chassis mount

Last three pics show the where the type 9 bolts up to the floor. For this I cut up the original crossflow engine mount into 2 pieces. Drilled the 4 holes and bolted it up then welded the nuts to the plates and cut the bolts flush. If I need to remove the gearbox in the future, I dont need to take the carpet up and works like a stock factory setup.

Apart from water and ignition, the sump is a major stumbling block to getting this engine working in a Escort. Contrary to belief, you don't need to convert it to a rear sump setup. The sump on a 20v was designed pretty damn well from the factory and only needs minimal cutting and welding to work in a escort. I managed to keep the factory baffle so I simply make sure the oil is on the full level on the dipstick.

I wanted to get my temp gauge working so everything worked as it should do so bought a new temp sender and an adapter to fit into the water kit. A bit PTFE tape was used to stop any water leaks.

Final thing to get working was the rev counter. The omex ecu does have a tacho output but it wont drive the older coil rev counters like the escort so used a 4 circuit to run the signal from both - sides of the new coil pack.

I know a company that does an off the shelf kit for 20v same money as omex and will come with a proper map
They do plug and play for Vw s , but I have uses a couple of kits that have all the relays included in loom and just require 3 or 4 wires joining

Sounds similar to the kit RAW engineering does then. They supplied a full kit and a 160hp map all included in the price. They also include setup time down there too which worked well. Always good to see other companys supporting the 4age.

Lol I luv the agro your dishing out over the videos. I will definitely get some up on here and was meant to do them this weekend.

Just a few pictures of the modified prop. Now the intention was just to make a temporary prop then eventually replace it with a single piece when time and money permits however this one has taken some stick and it aint broke yet so long may it continue. (touch wood)

Had a go at cleaning up the mexico steels after reading a thread on here.

    http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthre...t=steel+wheels

Think they scrubbed up ok but what a tedious job. Used about 5 different primers before the top coat but for a first time job at home it worked. Had them done just in time for the classic ford show.

My youngest child Megan at the wheel. Gots to teach the kids early on about real cars.

This is the original starter solenoid which is no longer needed. 2 red thick wires normally go to the battery and starter motor. Red/Black wire is your ignition start, Yellow/Black goes to the coil when starting. With a 4age starter simply connect the exciter wire to the black/red wire and thick wire from the starter straight to the battery. Remove the rest.

These 3 wires are from the crossflow alternator. The 2 red thick wires are not needed. The blue wire is the alternator charge lamp.

Probably my favourite picture of all. Taken at the end of the first day of the swap.

Hi mate. Fitting zetec in my mk2 and been trying to figure out wiring to alternator. You said u dont need the two red wires do I just cut them off and attach them to nothing. And just pull a new wire from battery to new alternator and connect blue wire to alternator. Where do the two red wires go too as I thought they should go to battery but don't. As I have ripped all the old solenoid and starter out the only current wire I have to battery is a small brown one which feeds my fuse board and ignition.
