Pinto Dry Sump System - Pipe Diameter

    Hi Guys.

    Just looking for advice.

I fitted -12 dry sump pipes and unions to a pinto.
Boot mounted tank. -12 feed, to pump, -12 from pump to filter head -12 return via cooler.

Now been advised that they should be 3/4, the way it is at the moment could see pressure drop off, and not to run the engine until its changed.

What are peoples opinions out there.

    I use;

    AN16 from tank to pump
    AN10 pressure out to block
    AN12 scavange to filter
    AN12 filter to cooler
    AN12 cooler to tank

Never had a problem but that doesnt mean it is the best.

    Boot mounted tank
Will work ok with -12 to pump
If it’s a good pump but -16 would be better

Then -10 from pump to filter head
-10 from filter head to engine

Oil pressure switch in block not filter head

    Then scavenge

    3/4 pipe or -12 x2

Then either -12 or -16 to cooler
    Then to tank

Also you a good oil cooler and good filter
Head as these also make a difference

    Smooth bore pipes always

-12 the lot never had a problem. I only run one return line in -12 and it’s fine
