    Roller-Cam Pinto Refresh

Rebuilding the Pinto for my race car in place of the defunct crossflow.

Can anyone hazard a guess as to valve clearances for an Esslinger roller cam set up? I currently have them set at 0.01" inlet and 0.011" exhaust. I have contacted Esslinger directly but not heard back yet.

    Cheers

Off topic - is that an additional steel strap over the cam bearing tower? - Never seen that done / recommended before!

Yep - the middle and rear cam towers are both strapped to stop them snapping off. The weld-on straps came as part of the Esslinger roller cam kits back in the day.

just ask Esslinger, why asking here? Old fashioned Esslinger setup with straps i remember. Still does, don't worry. I got one big roller cammed Lima motor from them sitting here waiting to roar
in mm. Typically it would be 0,20 in 0,25 out, but ask them fore sure on facebook, you'll get answer quick as i know

common stuff in racing. I have seen it in oval racing. And using gundrilled camshafts as well

I've emailed Brian - often takes a while to hear back. I'm not on facebook
I have it running with 0.01" inlet and 0.011" exhaust - but there is a bit more valve train noise than before so I suspect it should be tighter. I'll post what Esslinger recommends when I hear back from them.
