    2.0 and 2.3 dura pistons

Can i use a set of 2.0 high compression pistons in my 2.3?

I know they are the same bore size but is the location and size of the pin the same?

it would seem so, both accralite and cosworth list the same forged pistons for 2.0 and 2.3

    2.0 and 2.3 dura pistons

Excellent news, seen lots of sets for the 2.0 with a 12:1 cr.
Ill have to just work out the compression ratio, im assuming the bigger 300cc will give a higher cr

Re: 2.0 and 2.3 dura pistons

Ok having just compared my 2.0 pistons with the 2.3 a few thing are clear.

The 2.3 rods are bigger in every way, height, thickness and bearings

The pistons and wrist pins appear identical in dimensions

The 2.3 pistons are domed inward and have valve seat cut outs

So the next obvious question is, can i use stock 2.0 pistons in my 2.3 to raise compression without having to spend a fortune?
Does anybody know if its been done before?
can anybody confirm the compression ratios of the 2.0 and 2.3 non-ranger (ive seen many different values quoted online)
Its likely that with my high lift cams ill need valve seats to be cut out but ill cross that bridge when i get to it.

the 2.3 is mazda, not that i think it makes much difference

Re: 2.0 and 2.3 dura pistons

it would seem likely you can use stock 2.0 pistons in a 2.3 to give more compression, but you will be in trouble with valve/piston clearance if you fit any sort of cam

    2.0 and 2.3 dura pistons

Yeah im using the cosworth yd0859 and yd0860 with a view to fit the even bigger lift piper ultimate road cams later on.

Will definitely need to look at getting the valve cut outs machined in
