That's fucking awesome.. I wonder how it would fair on twin carbs...

Not that I know anything about Esslinger, but I always imagined them to be a German company, certainly not American...

The Lima is a descendant of a Pinto i think bigger in cc and looks like a pinto in most areas im sure there are a lot different im also sure they was in the turbo Merker of the 90's. Yes cool vid esp with the holley and nice power and torque ...

Think it was the other way round, the pinto was based on the lima.

Esslinger are mentions a bit in vizards book about tuning the pinto too.

I recall watching this show on a Saturday morning when i was living in CA. There would be a channel that blocked out about 3-4 hours with various shows like this. It was great watching (once you got used to the bluster and accents). Britain just never bothered with this style of show...I guess not enough demand.

That was a good watch - Esslinger know their stuff. They used to do a lot of parts for the 2.0 Pinto engine when it was widely used in 'circle track' racing, before moving on to the 2.3 Lima. They don't stock much for the pinto now but can still make parts for you if needed. I recently got new valves and springs for the Esslinger roller cam set up for the Pinto I have in my Escort - they also supplied me with a set of long-rod JE pistons to their design too.

Over here the Ford Pinto car used the 1600 xflow and the German-made 'pinto' engine until about 1973 then switched to the 2.3 Lima engine - it was still fitted to Ranger pickups, mustangs etc 'till the mid nineties I think
