my 2 escorts. 2dr track car and 4dr turbo streeter

hello lads

thought id show some pics of my 2 escorts.
i built the 2 door and bought the 4 door.

the 2 door i bought a few years ago as a fairly stock esky. i had always wanted to build a track car so i decided this would be the one.
the shell was absolutely rust free. lived its whole life up the north of south australia where its very dry. even after stripping it completely everything was still solid and still had original paint.

this is how it looked just after i purchased it


i decided to keep the kent and rebuild it. the only thing i ended up keeping on the motor was the block!
some specs are
twin 45 webers
headers
ally head
roller rockers
stainless valves
block bored out
forged pistons, rods,crankshaft
kent 244 cam
hiflow oil pump
world cup xmember

gearbox is a 4 speed with quaife straight cuts and a tranx lsd in the back.
i then found GRP4 on the internet (that was dangerous) and picked up:
grp4 front struts,ally hubs, bilstein inserts
quick rack
AP racing brakes
adj control arms
pedal box

and the end result. im pretty happy with how it worked out. first time ive done this kind of thing. its very satisfying when i first took it to the track.

im currently upgrading the fuel system before i take it out again.

half way thru building the above car i saw a 4 door up for sale. the car was in melbourne (900 kilometers away) i usually wouldn't travel that far for a normal escort. but this wasnt exactly stock. it had a nissan SR20det in it.

so i got a car trailer and drove over there cash in hand and had a look. it was being sold very cheap as it wouldn't start. the bloke reckoned it was a faulty ECU. i took an educated guess that it wasnt and took a gamble. ended up getting it for a few grand less than he was asking and soon enough i was on my way home with a new toy. it was a 22 hour round trip without stopping but it was worth it.

after doing a bit of diagnosis i found that it was actually a faulty sensor causing it not to start. i chucked a new one in and a few mins later it was driving it for the first time. the gamble payed off as everything worked and the thing was mental.

anyway at the moment i am currently getting it all engineered so it can be road registered.

some specs are
SR20det
550cc injectors
garret t28

5 speed manual
series 4 rx7 front and rear brakes

so after i get it on the road i want to put some smaller wheels with dish ( not a huge fan of the ones on there) and make it as stock looking as possible

also thought id add. once the blue escort gets road registered i will be putting smaller wheels and making it a sleeper as possible

bit of an update/sob story

unfortunatly getting the car engineered has taken alot more time,money and effort than i had anticipated. powering through but its taking a while. not sure what the rules are like in UK but here i had to get the engine emissions tested. which that motor failed, not much of a suprise as its an old N/A converted to turbo and had an ancient ecu which we were having trouble talking to. also i opened up the motor and it looked neglected. so i decided to fit a new motor.
i sourced a stock s15 sr20det from japan with loom and ecu for very cheap. had only 20,xxx kms on the motor too and looked pristene inside. so i proceeded to pull the old motor and harness out. lucky my old man is good with wiring as we re did the whole loom for the car. was a bit of a headache and took about 4 weekends to get everything sorted.
then i fitted the motor and all was sweet.

next to get it on the road i had to take the car for a id number inspection to make sure everything was legit. thats when it turned to crap. engine number had an "inconsistency" as they called it. long story short the car has been impounded waiting a police investigation. that was 19 days ago, still havnt heard anything. anyway im sure ill get the car back and im hoping the motor will be coming back with it. its been pretty stressful not having my baby in the shed but there is nothing i can do at this stage.

ialso got a new daily driver, sold the yellow 4 door and picked up this falcon for cheap. i needed a car that could tow. its a 93 eb falcon 5 speed manual but it has a sneaky 2010 engine fitted and a tune. goes good

How much bhp did the crossflow produce? And how does it rev?

hey mate, made 124hp atw. had some issues with the ignition and fuel system and only got 1 or 2 good runs.. hopefully should make more once its 100%. unfortunatly, its taken a back seat to the other esky latley

been a long time since i posted on here. bit of a picture dump coming up

the green escort is still going, ive done a few track days and a hill climb in it. makes an awesome noise and feels great

the blue escort.. i hated the wheels that came with it. with the rx7 rear end nothing else would fit. so i got a whole new diff made up based off a r31 skyline. got it cut down to fit 8" wheels under the guards at the rear.

new wheels didnt quite fit haha





looks much better now. very happy. just need to get some 13"s now
