With the dash bar in place, it means you cant use the standard ignition barrel. So they have modifyed the colunm so it bolts on to the dash bar allowing me to use the standard set up.

these little touches really make a car IMO

I have always been told that foam filters destroy the smooth airflow into the trumpet although that comment may have been more directed towards the sock type foam filter.

i have heard that but again i though it was only the sock type filters. there website gives enhancement in performance but i would expect nothing else. lol

dont fancy running it with out any filters and there trumpets mesh type i have heard bad things regarading reducing performance. ill have to do a bit of trial and error

    small update

decide to seal the underneath of the car and arches and the rear tubes, with some of this

    #

it is a fu%^er to get off your skin, but it seem very good stuff would recommend

then i decided to go all out and get some POR 15 heard good things about it and at £40 i had high expectations

and again it seem very good that one tin covered the whole underneath and arches, went on well really felt like good stuff, i did the under the front arches and inside wings on sat and now dry seems very tough stuff. ill get some pics up tmw night. hoping this will keep the rust away for a good few years

    Re: 1974 MK1 Escort

A well over due update, the car has had to take a back seat the last month or so in the process of buying house, changing roles at work and moving the car to a new unit, but i managed to get today to move things along, hoping to have, boot, engine bay and inside in paint by the end of the month if all goes to plan.

i have sealed as much as i can with the tiger seal, and the underneath has had one good coat of POR15, once its all built im going to give it another coat to really seal it off.

Few pics from todays work, Dash painted 2k satin black

Wheel post fitted, nice and neat this one and can be single or double, perfect for taking slicks to santa pod

Decided to start laying the fuel line and battery cable, as i wont as many holes drilled before it goes to paint.

just waiting for some rubber grommets to finish off the the lines and cable. then i can crack on with getting the roll cage sprayed before the inside. Some busy days ahead

    Re: 1974 MK1 Escort

    Small update
the car is off on monday morning to have some paint put on the boot, engine bay and interior and to have the roll cage spayed. can wait to see how she looks, so i have been busy drilling all the holes i can think off. I know i might have to drill some when painted but only a few fingers crossed.

I have sorted to the fuel filter

and i gave the front scuttle area a good coat of paint to keep the dreaded rust away for as many years as possible

should have a really big update by next weekend. paint seems such a massive step forward

I personally would be uncomfortable putting a fuel component (especially a glass bowled filter) at the front of the car. Small hit = big fuel leak. Probably just me over-thinking though......

Yeah it should be. I haven't removed it as my garage was not wide enough.

the colour is called Lipari blue, not a ford colour but a classic blue/grey - orignally i believe it was a British Motor Company colour. I wanted something a little different but still with a classic look

I sprayed the bonnet to make sure i liked the colour. it will have a lot more shine when done properly

This is how the finish should look

    what do you think??????????????????????
