    My new toy

    Body.
Repairs, Paint & Prep work by well respected Cortina specialist.
    The work he carried out:
Rebuilt the inner wings and jigged to maintain conformity. Any rust was cut out and new metal let in wherever required. Full glass out re-spray including under bonnet, boot and door shuts in the closest match to the car’s original Aqua Blue (A Mercedes colour).

Has had welding to the under frame in line with all 47 year old Cortinas, all done to a good standard and is solid as a rock.

All window rubbers where replaced with NOS and pattern all round, new door window felts also. New roof Ariel fitted, boot rubber seal and door seals, badges replaced.

New stainless steel quarter bumpers fitted on genuine Lotus Cortina brackets, rear bumper re-chromed.

New fuel tank and gauge sender fitted.

Body is rust free and paint work superb.

New H4 headlights and chrome (Aluminium) surrounds fitted, new NOS front indicator/side light units fitted, mint rear lights and period rear spot light (Not connected). Period raised letter black and white number plates, new number plate light fitted.

    Running gear.
    Engine:
1660cc 711M Cross flow, piper road/race camshaft, Gas flowed big valve head, Duplex valve springs, Duplex timing chain, High pressure oil pump, Lotus distributor with electronic points, new water pump, Lotus flywheel allowing larger clutch to be fitted (Which is new). New Webcom twin 40 DCOE carbs, 2” stainless steel exhaust. Rolling road print out indicating 103bhp at the rear wheels (around 118bhp at the flywheel) Alternator conversion. Roars like a lion at full chat, drives perfectly in heavy traffic, Recon genuine Lotus Cortina radiator never gets hot. Surprisingly quick as car only weighs around 880 kg. V5c States engine capacity as 1660cc.

    Gearbox/Axle:

Genuine Mk1 Lotus Cortina three rail 2000E Gearbox

Fully rebuilt less than a 1000 miles ago, re-bushed gear remote from Lotus Cortina (Chrome stick). Solid prop shaft connected to fully rebuilt axle, new wheel bearings and fully reconditioned 3.77:1 differential (300miles).

    Steering/suspension.
    Brakes:

Servo assisted single circuit system, new NOS master cylinder (And Clutch). Reconditioned Lotus P16 callipers, new solid discs at the front, standard Drums on the rear. All new pads, shoes and cylinders all round, GT under dash handbrake with new cable.

    Steering:

Standard Cortina steering box (Rebuilt) all new track rod ends, ball joints, fully poly-bushed drop arm and drag link.

    Suspension:
Gaz adjustable (Height and damping) front legs, new top mounts, Poly-bushed GT Track control arms (Cast), poly-bushed anti-roll bar. Gaz adjustable rear shockers, -1.5” lowering blocks.

    Wheels:
Lotus Cortina 5-1/2 J rims, almost mint condition, powder coated in the correct shade of silver, new stainless steel hub caps. Tyres as new 185/70/13 rear, 175/70/13 front.
    Interior.

Interior taken from A lotus Cortina Mk1,
Door cards average but of sentimental value to me so fitted as they were, lotus centre console, arm rest professionally recovered in Leather.
Front seats have be fitted with new Aldridge covers, rear seat Ok

New carpets fitted 18 months ago, headlining original but in good condition with no rips etc. Lotus Cortina MK2 Speedo and rev counter fitted (Smiths), 60-60amp smiths ammeter fitted due to alternator up grade, matching mechanical oil pressure and temp gauges, original fuel gauge retained. All gauges are fully working and accurate as is all of the electrical equipment, battery condition meter fitted discretely to the right hand side of the driver’s foot well.
Quality leather bound Moto-lita steering wheel fitted.

1960’s radiomobile radio fitted professionally converted to FM and has an IPOD pick up

    There you go Steve

Very nice - if i'd have had the money i would have bought this!
It's a very well put together car and is much better than an original GT in my opininon!

Well done and have fun with it!
