Hi Steve. Welcome to the forum. There is a heap of info here for the searching. Unfortunately, as with alot of forums, it has got alot more quite over the last couple of years but there are still some great people here.

1970 Mk1 Escort Tarmac Rally Car
Hi Glenn,
thanks for the welcome. My son and I have just finished building a MK2 Rally car. It still needs to go on the rollers to be tuned which it is on the 7th Nov.
It is a Pinto car, and I am interested to see what HP we get at the wheels.
The head I bought years ago by a gentleman called Steve Knight. I believe he was known as a good escort guy back in the day.
I think you have a Pinto? I did read some old threads were you had posted years ago. We think we would like to keep our car as a Pinto for rally class reasons.
I had one of these cars years ago which is the same spec as this one.
520x cam
45 Webers
rocket box
4.6 LSD
I won the local Autocross championship with that car, however it only had 112hp at the wheels. Hoping for more than that this time.
Could you please tell me some things about you car. If we were going to build another engine, whose head and which cam would you use, - for a rally car?
Anyway, thank you for the welcome
Regards,
Steve
Mt Pinto uses a Kent GTS cam, 45 DCOE webbers, 12:1 compression, 98 octane. 126KW @ wheels IIRC (enter trolls here to confirm that I cannot possibly have obtained that.....). I use mine for tarmac rallies. Due to rule changes I am now considering the need to change to a Duratec.
I bought mt Pinto 2nd hand but I believe the work was done by a bloke called Rolly at Racetune in WA (Bevan?). Not sure who else does them here.

Your cam choice Veetwin will depend alot on what power band you require and what type of stage events you intend doing, fast and flowing or tight and twisty. There are a number of specialists on this Forum that swear by the KC RL31 cam for a Pinto. I have used a BF63 to good effect in the past.
As for cylinder head specialists that's where it gets a bit more complicated. You need someone that understands the air flow of the Pinto engine. Vulcan Engineering would be a good starting point or if you have a bottomless pit of money then Dave Brookes Engines is worth a call but expect to pay £2000+. You could always ask the Forums own Graham whom is known for his skills on Pinto heads, however I understand his time's very precious.
Mk1 OZ, what GTS cam's fitted to your engine and what is 126kw converted to the good old BHP? There's a limit to what a 2.0 Pinto engine can produce and anywhere above 200bhp at the flywheel is getting into the limits of the heads breathing capability. Some will say not and others will.
GTS4 and I think it is 169HP converted

Thanks for that Oz.
The GTS4 is a Tarmac Rally cam according to Kent. What they don't say is that it's a copy of a Holbay profile as is the GTS3.
I have GTS4 in an engine on 45's and 12.0.1 compression. The engine has been sat in the car for around 4 years waiting for the rest of it to be finished off so I can't say how it goes or what power it produces yet.
