3j Atlas diff oil
When i had my atlas 3j diff setup by squires they recommended castrol B373 oil. I have a load of Millers ls 80w90 semi synthetic which i used on my english axle with lsd. I used this as this is what the previous owner had used.
Is there a massive difference in the 2, i don't mind buying the castrol as it is only £16 for 2 litres etc but will the millers be ok ? I trust squires recommendation but i won't be rallying etc or putting it under massive loads.
Cheers

Re: 3j Atlas diff oil
straight 80/90 semi really isn't upto the job with plate type LSD's.
to give a clue, castrol specify an SAF oil for bmw diff's, but specify a different variant for LSD equipped cars an which is SAF XJ, in fact i used to put the LSD version in all our customer road cars to cut down on the amount of oils stocked, back then Diff and transmission oil changes were part of the service schedule!
the thing with a plate type LSD is the oil needs special qualities to avoid the plates wearing quickly or not gripping properly. Personally the only stuff i would put in mine is B373 which was originally recommended to me years ago by them that knew more than i did, and what Fostek used to recommend.

That's 3 quality votes for the castrol, I'll get some ordered.
Thanks
