You've managed all that work VERY WELL, Sure you'll come up with something to hide the x-member.
Very impressive work - Well Done!
I think I'll wait until she is completely built up and loaded before I make any decision on this one, had a look at some other front bibs on Mk one's and I still think they all look like an add on, like something you would see on front of a wild west train, I also know they have a purpose, but that's on the track, this is gonna be a road car
i like the clock conversion, i think a similar thing from common parts could become popular with all the modern installs. electronic rev counter to match new ecu etc and a speedo that can run from a magnetic pickup for self calibration (halfords bike style)
double post
I would be looking to hide the gubbins somehow, but that's just my opinion!

I really don't want a bib I think they look hideous on a Mk1, on a Mk2 you get away with it because of the shape, I think your right I will have to hide the gubbins somehow, so I am coming round to the idea of making a sump gaurd or under body tray in black, what you think?
i'd go for a big sump guard under tray type thing that goes from the bottom of the front valance to the front cross member, paint it matt black and your'll never know, extra protection too
looking great fella, you should be very proud of what you've built

Well thanks guy's, I do put a lot of work in to this project, but you will all have to wait and see what I have planed to finish this off in detail but trying at the same time to keep it oldskool, I hope the finished project will go down well with most of you
.
Just been linked to this form another forum, Glad i clicked on it, absolutely awesome :-) :-)

.
if you dont like bibs then think about a nice sump guard covering up the centre of the running gear?
if it aint broke, break it!
yep that's what am gonna do, make up a black plastic under tray that can be easily taken off
Any updates?
Very nice project
Busy shaping the rear arches at the moment, hoping to have the shell painted by the end of November, all depends on booth time, as I do the painting myself but only work on this project at nights I am needing more than one night to get this in to colour, might take some well over due holidays and speed the job up a bit

Good work, ive wondered why this engine never got used in projects,
Looks hard as nails.....Keep up the good work
Old skool forever
Just don`t tell the wife
how much it really costs!
Awesome job you've done bud!! Bloody spot on!! And yes a simple black guard will do fine for the underside, no need for a bib etc, expecially with the bright paintwork eyes will be drawn away from the underside! Very smart!!
Update pics:
First pic shows the 4 panels finally into paint, for those that are interested what you see it over 60 hours hard labour hanging there, the bonnet is the only panel left to do. the last two pics are a reminder as to what I started off with and how far it's come in 2 years
such an epic project
Looking great mate well done
More updates pics, been working on the location of components under the bonnet, just the wiring left to do, battling with the headlining at the moment, not the easiest thing to do, especially when you make it yourself
Thats looking shithot with ya mate fairplay
+1 ^
