Is an English axle with a tran x LSD and tramp bars strong enough to cope with a standard s2000. And what about a strengthened type 9 of eBay

Use the 6 speed standard gearbox, And the engines do not produce that amount of torque. As long as your not running massive sticky tyres the axle should be fine.

how much it really costs!
If its for fast road then yes it will take it, if its for competition use the english axle will shit itself big time, there is a very good reason the ford works rally teams changed from an english axle to atlas when switching from lotus twincam engines to 1600 BDA in hte mk1 escort, the axle could not cope with the extra power even with uprated shafts etc
It greatly depends on how you drive it and how much grip you have, personally I would not use an english axle with more than 140lb/ft or 180bhp for competition use, but there are many people using silly hp with english axles for fast road and track days etc, the choice is yours

also i could never see a type 9 surviving the rpm an s2000 lump will rev round too, like cossymax says, use the standard honda gearbox, with regards to the axle, keep your tyre width down and you should be alright![]()
