Thumbs up Hello from one of the colonies

Hi everyone, my names Mark and i'm from South Australia. Got hold of a mk1 coupe a little while ago and have just stripped it to pieces ready for a full resto, I'll try to get some pics up in the next few weeks. Still deciding what to do with it yet, zetec, duratec, cossie, or the pinto but it's going to be a road car so it still has to be drivable, there are also some pretty big restrictions on engine transplants down here that limit options somewhat, mainly my hip pocket as i don't own a bank or print money. I'm thinking a pseudo RS as i've already got the grill, lights, dash cluster, etc.

Looking forward to any input people can offer!

    Cheers!

Sounds like an interesting project, there's a fellow antipodean on here who has tried to put in a duratec 'on the cheap' and failed somewhat

    Any pics?

Hey! Cut it out! I resemble that comment........................ I mean I resent that comment!

Welcome fellow Aussie, hope your build goes well for you.

My biggest lesson so far is to remember not to use 'cheap' in a thread title, as kindly mentioned above.

    Yo,
    Welcome to TS.

    mk1 "coupe"
    Escort?
I'd go for a Zetec engine, cheaper and more readily available parts, more of 'em about, pretty good power potential.

    Lovin the V8 supercar Series

    Question for you.......
Your either a Ford or a General Motors bloke over there apparently,
So how would this go down ?
Ford Escort (mk2) with GM Engine.?

    Again,

    Welcome to TS

    Yo Boddx,

Personally i'm a Ford man through and through, but your right. There is definately a certain amount of rivalry between the two, and surprise surprise it's a 50% split.

Now an Escort with a GM motor, that would be something!! I'm not sure of the correct terminology but ABOMINATION just about covers it! ( where's the slap avatar when u need it)

i'll take some pics and get them up shortly....

    Re: Mk1 Coupe. (sedan?)

Looks to be a good solid shell Mr Duckman, good find.

Whatever you end up doing, please don't put a Gemini motor in it.

    3.8L V6 from a bombadore..................hmmmm...........that'll be something different.......

    Good luck mate!

I am not running a build thread for various reasons but have posted a few pics along the way as and when I have needed help. Going to be a Pinto powered tarmac rally car. Nearly at the dummy build stage then hopefully finished by christmas.
