anything New on this one?
Not much to report at this time.
Has had a good 360 degree dose of dinitrol in all the seams and box sections.
Made some plastic wheel arch liners to stop the crud from flying up and just gathering parts now for assembly. Got to get my finger out as I've promised my daughter I'd take her to her school prom on July 2nd dressed as the stig! Who needs a limo!
locking forward to se the progress
What colour is that paint? It looks great.
Cheers
Mike
and it's looking awesome
Awesome Dave. Post up the prom night pictures when complete
Screaming 1300 mexico rep

i love this car!
Have there been anymore updates on this build? Stunning, Awsome stance. Just as I'm hoping ours will be one day!!
Yes I was hoping that would be the case
Was hoping to make a start on ours last year, Then things went tits up towards the end of the year. So 2015 will be the start of our MK1s new life
Hello chaps.
Well my daughter decided she wasn't going to the school prom so I stopped rushing to get it finished.
If I'm honest I don't think I would of made it anyway!!!
Got just about everything I need to complete it just need to get my finger out and bolt it all on.
Just really busy with work and toddler commitments.
All good things eh!
Got a few updated pics to load up but need to fire up pc for that.
Cheers
A great car always enjoyed reading this thread and the colour is just spot on, it will look perfect when done so no point in rushing it and spoiling it now
When I grow up I will have a MK1 Escort
I must be all growed up now then and paying for it!
I'm glad that I bumped this back up now......... Looking forward to the updated pics. Cracking job on the car Dave
WOW !!! --- Dave , that's looking absolutely awesome , I haven't seen it since I came to the workshop to weld those wishbones ages ago . What's missing apart from glass and interior now , engine/gearbox ? Since seeing you I've gone bonkers and bought myself an 1972 Alfa 2lt GTV -- GTAm replica but with standard bhp . Rob
Damn, that's one hell of a transformation! Congrats on getting in with purchasing before the prices of mk1 went crazy, too!
awesome work. are there anymore photos to come? have you got any of the arches being spotwelded on? and did you blend them in yourself?
'69 MK1 2 DOOR Back on
'75 1300E 2DOOR ...NOW SOLD!
great read/great car/great build/great welding/its just great all credit whoever is doing this
Thanks guys. As for purchasing, I was just in the right place at the right time. Pure luck I guess.
Sorry but no pics of the actual spot welding on the arches. I fitted them on the inside of the quarters (like gartrac do it) with an inch overlap and ran two rows of welds about an inch apart all the way round.
Yes I did all the filler and prep work but priming and painting were done by a body shop. As for colour I don't know what Dave Roberts blue is? I will let on but keeping it under me hat for now!!!
If it's nice out tomorrow I will put a couple of more pics up but not really much more to show at the moment.
Some more pics for y'all.
Notice anything different about the bumpers?
Soooo shiny... Nice looking car!
Pretty much correct Rob! I welded the front irons directly to the bumpers and welded an m8 studding connector nut to the sides.
Same with the back.
But you all missed that the bumpers fit tighter to the body.
The back one has had an inch cut out and joined back together. And I shaped them to fit the body lines.
Been watching too much overhaulin!
that looks fantastic m8.!!!!

great build this, car looks amazing
All caught up from the start of this excellent build
The colour really pops out now you've got it in the sun
Out for a drive on a sunny spring day reminds me why I got this car
Your car just looks stunning Dave , that colour really does the MK1 body shape favours !!!
The colour in the pics looks a lot lighter than it really is!
It's more like the shot of it in front of the garage.
Great car well done
