    Re: Panels

    Hello

I hold stock of Magnum floor repair panels (front and rear - set of 4) or full floors with rear seat brace, tunnel top etc or just the full floorskin. Mk1 or Mk2?

The Magnum full floorpans are very good equivalent to OE spec. The repair panels are good to patch the floor if you do not want to go to the expense of the full floors. As I have never used Expressed panels I cannot comment but they do look good and have a good reputation.

    Re: Panels

I’ve fitted a full magnum floor supplied by Tim (TJ Motor Sport) I’d recommend it if you’ve a bad floor. Cutting in the individual pans (which I’ve done back in the day, and planned to do initially this time) is a lot of work to get a decent job.
If you can stretch to the cost of the full floor it’s money well spent. Cross checking it with original, it was within 3-5mm at the measurable points. There’s a bit of technique to getting it in, but once you know it’s straight forward.
Full write up on my restoration thread, and or drop me a line.
Expressed do full length pans which are good quality (I’ve never fitted one) but I believe MOT rules now mean any repair panels like this have to be fully seam welded. I stand to be corrected by someone in the know.
Btw Tim does the best price on the magnum panels and customer service is second to none.

to the letter of the law any repair has to be fully seam welded, unless you are fitting a complete panel and are spot welding it as per original, that sai sdyo can only test what you can see

    Re: Panels

I've used some expressed ones years ago, and they are really good but not cheap.

    Re: Panels

I fitted a passenger side inner wing from Expressed on my 1968 Escort; perfect fit. Unlike the drivers side door I bought from Magnum(two door car), which was an unholy mess. I was expecting issues of re - alignment of wing etc. but the outer door skin was fitted so far back on the door frame from the factory that I now cannot use an interior light door switch; it was necessary to re-weld the door hinges that much further forward. In retrospect I wish I'd have repaired the old door again
    Are we there yet?
