    Extending alternator cable

    Hi i need to extend the alternator cable in my mk2 mex as removed xflow to put original pinto in whats the best way to join the cables/wires after cutting? Cheers

    I know it might not be some peoples first choice but I'd go for one of these, well crimped then maybe soldiered aswell and heat shrink over the top.

    For the cost and the alternative of potential failure of joint / break concealed by heatshrink . . . . . i'd just make up a new longer cable!

    and connect it with ? you still need a crimp connector of some sort both ends ........

    DOH! As every cable needs connectors at either end that was a given with 'make up a new cable', the point being - it is jointLESS!!

    yes, theres no right or wrong way really. personally since the original is already jointed 2 to 1 in harness i would just crimp an extension on with staggered joints and shrink. using quality crimps and tool is the key.
