xe cooling issues assistance required
Hello
is the cooling set up on a C29XE and a X20XEV similar cannot find where the feed from the engine to heater is. Engine is fitted to a mk2 escort if the feed comes from the rear I cannot see where also there is no room as rear is about 5mm from bulkhead.
Is there somewhere else you can take a feed.
I take it that there will always be hot water coming out above water pump (recirc system) That could be directed to heater.
Anybody got any ideas on this
thanks

Re: xe cooling issues assistance required
Normally cool water goes into pump so the pump 'spigot' will be cooled water return from heater. If these engines are anything like Zetecs? the thermostat is on the rear of the block and that assembly supplies the hot water to the heater. Because space is limited between engine and firewall, it is usual to build a water rail to move the thermostat assembly away from the rear and towards the front which helps accessibility but could be completely different for a GM engine!

what engine do you have... C20XE? its not clear from your post.
if its a C20XE, it comes out the back of the head and yes its tight. this was my work around - works perfectly the last 4 years, rock solid engine temps, and hot air.

Re: xe cooling issues assistance required
Hi onecamohv the enine I have is the later versions of the xe I have the x2.0 xev (ecotec) I know that the distributer is moved from the back of the engine on the XEV engine it runs electronic ignition no distributor. At the back of the Engine there was a EGR valve set up which has been removed the heater outlet may have been part of the EGR set up
But I cannot seem to find where the cooling feed to the heater comes from if it is on the back of the Engine like the earlier XE then I don't have the space unless I modify bulkhead.
When I last had the engine out I looked for an outlet blocked off but seen nothing.
