I think you can squeeze more car under that steering wheel ,
....its not that its big,its the car is small......glad it comes off so I can get in.....probably need to loose another stone to fit in.....

......lots and lots of work done....
....does my garage look big in this ?
so jealous of the car and the space you have in your garage
.anguz.......don't be jealous.......its not that big.....the camera does lie...
....a few of the inmates....
now i could find a space to keep that lot.....
just caught up , excellent as usual
....finished the fuel system......What Moonshine ?........just managed to fit it all in.....hope I've done it right.......
work of art, love the old looking diff.

.....Caprimental.....its a Winters ''quick change''......two ratio's in one diff.....4:11 and 3:05......just have to take off the rear cover and turn the drive cogs around.....
just found a video http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fvUba5Bc-40 that's absolutely brilliant. what a fantastic idea and design.

..CAPRIMENTAL......that was cool.....that guy was using a sprint car read end ,with ''wide five''hubs.....this system was developed back in the 1940's based on Ford model A rear ends.....Halibrand and Winters seem to have cornered the market......not cheap at £2500.00,but a must have on any sprint car....the noise those straight cut gears make is almost worth the cost....

.....considering I've been away for a while,I seem to have done loads.Pulled myself out of the trough and am on a high at the moment....
.....one of my mates was worried for my nuts ( can I say that ?)and thought that with the prop between my legs, and no tunnel, thought it would be better do something.....so a prop hoop was made, and I feel a little better. The saga with the brakes is almost over...pedal box made, and reinforcing plate to hold them done....only got to weld them in.The Jacobs Ladder is done, and this just needs to be mounted, and that finishes the rear end.Only big jobs are the computer.....but thats a little way away.....and wires.
....oh a Jacobs Ladder is kind of like a panhard rod squashed down to fit in a narrow chassis....here's one on a 1950's John Fray car.....
Home stretch now buddy. Must be all the fab work done now.
.....Trig....back over to Seattle in a few weeks,so thats it for this year....2015 could be the year...
Pure work of art...
Always love the updates on this.
Shaun
...escortinadriver.....Shaun...glad you like it,when I started this build didn't know if anyone else would '' get it ''.....had some great support from the guys on this forum over the years...from hard parts to good advice...thanks to all......
Holy cowbells Blackvette59!
I have been following this project for a while now and every time I see a new post I get excited. This thing is bananas and your metal fab/engineering work is brilliant. It is going to be a beauty to drive. I think by the masses following this build more than a few people "get it"
Kiic_hunter.....thanks.....there's a lot of Sprint car action in your neck of the woods....as for the engineering...a lot is done in my garage, but my loyal band of mates help out a lot.....by the way,I used to race a guy with a Hunter back in the 1970's...looks as if he's beating me....
Love all the work gone into your car , so different from the normal on here and makes for a fascinating read
.........thanks for your support......it really means such a lot....
A lot of sprint car action around here Blackvette, something about wide open spaces are car racing seems to work.
Cool picture too by the way. Not too many Hunters floating around in Aus that I have seen. I would love a Mk3 at some stage...that list of "one day"s gets bigger every time I visit this site.
.....so many cars....so little time..
Graham...now I'm feeling old.....got my Mk3 new in 1972.....American Racing wheels and pipes added just after delivery....God I had hair then....
did you also paint the back axle red and have a fog light shining at it?
......oh Graham.....no.....the bad old 70's....but I did have this...no lights,no red axel, just a little Hot Rod...
cool
...finally worked out rear chassis....looks quite simple, but a lot of thought went into this.....plenty of room for my Jacobs ladder, chain down, and fuel tank suport......big tick......just needs welding in and its done.........
.....first chance I've had to get out in the garage since getting home from the States....FINALLY got thr brake pedal and cylinders in....thy work a treat, and the pedal just gives me room to get the accelerator in,but it is tight....a couple of things to square away, and then its the computer...can't put it off much longer....
Looking good buddy.
......Trig.....took your advice and decided to run two cylinders.....it really makes good sense.....even though it was a little harder to squeeze them in.....just got to splice two 10lb check valves into the lines, and thats another job done....
