OK....I NEED YOUR HELP.....I can't put this off much longer....I need a computer to go into my car.....it just needs to be a very simple device....no VVT and stuff like that....any advice would be very helpful....my mate has suggested a Mega system, but I bow to your greater knowledge.....

You say simple but you need ign. And injection....
Megasquirt will do it but for a more plug n play option you would be better with more mainstream units. Graham bahr is emerald stockist with discount, or there's omex dta etc etc

Re: Duratec powered vintage Sprint car

Duratec is common enough now so it shouldn't be an issue, do you need loom supplied or will you make your own ? Pre made duratec looms are no doubt available, then it is pretty well plug n play .

.....Trig,that is kind of you.....I'm going to start with the electrics....getting the starting and charging systems in....been out in the garage today, and at the moment, can't even see where the battery can go.I think this has to be done so that I have as few problems when I get round to the ECU.

Not a problem it is easy to map too as me and my mate learnt how do do it there and then on the rollers although there is a lot more learning to do for us.

Re: Duratec powered vintage Sprint car

alladdin....theres an American ''hot rod'' loom on its way....I've used them on all my cars, and although I don't pretend to be an electrical wizard, they are really easy to install.....all the wires have their ''destinations'' printed on them every 8'',so you can't go wrong.I had so much cable left over from my last car, only a board is needed.........(still trying to put off the computer thing).....stand by your beds boys....

The computer bit is easy, I think your in for a pleasant surprise. If you get a harness then it's literally plug n play but making one isnt hard.

...Trig....spoke with Richard yeterday, and he's going to sort me out......he's given me a list of what I need, and he has managed to ''bump'' out all the things that were worrying me....kock sensor, air temp sensor, and lamda sensor...cool guy,and not too far from me if there is a problem. He has said that it will be a ''plug and play'' so my fears have been put to rest.THANKS AGAIN TRIG.....YOU ARE A FRIEND AND GENTLEMAN.

Here are a few motor shots....all done....only breather tank to go onto the firewall.....Richard has suggested I wire the motor first so I can find a place for the ECU,this should be with me on MONDAY.....AND SO IT BEGINS..

Re: Duratec powered vintage Sprint car

...and so it begins....started to install the wire loom.....had a few problems trying to put the temp control sender in the fan sensors boss, but found the right hole now the biggest problem is just trying to hide the wires.....it is getting there, and does look neat.Placement of the ECU is still going to be a problem, but since I've run out of money, this will have to wait till the new year.(I coudn't give up Amelia Island in March, and its so hard for us pensioners )......only the side panels and tail to paint, but upholstery needs to go in first, not that there is a lot,but tennex fasteners need to be positioned to hold in the threads.Still a load of bits to do that I've overlooked.....floor to go in,floor supports to make and install, belly pans to finish...still need to final weld rear chassis......there is a bit.....OH my zimmer frame came in today.....thats going to come in handy.....oh well rear nurf/push bar anyway......can't see much happening for this year,o again thats for the support...couldn't do it without you guys.....have a good one...see you next year....
