Rwd2ltrfiesta.....thats not a bumb question at all.The project was taken on to fill my time on my retirement.....I have always built cars, but my wife said I needed something to stretch me.......it has done that for sure. When completed.....I might sell it.....it could be raced.....or it could end up on the street......who knows?

Here are the bits,I love the fuel shut off valve......finished the steering box 'towers' ,sump is a nice piece, but dip stick was expensive and I could have done one a little better I think.Got some more plates for the Dzus fasteners, these will mount the dash and tail sections.Hope the radiator comes tomorrow,,,,,,,,once this is in ,plumbing will be finished,

Re: Duratec powered vintage Sprint car

Been a little slow to burn over the holiday, but some bits turned up a few days before Xmas. These were ordered in September, but got held up in UK customs.I had ordered some master cylinders to finish the brake and clutch systems, some seat mounts, two more 'vintage' style hood clips, and various bits and bobs that were not time critical, but I love the small details. The cylynders have been fitted and seem to work just fine on the bench.....once the floor is in they can be mounted. The radiator is almost there, and although its taken longer than anticipated, its a fine bit of work.I don't know of any other radiator works that would spend so much time fitting re-fitting and altering this custom peice. Thanks Roger the Rad.Once this is fitted, the motor can be fitted, exhaust finished and gear box mounts made. The steering box can then be fitted.Wouldn't life be a breeze if all the parts you needed to build your project were at hand? Pete 'The Sheet' came up with some heavier gauge side panels, and these need to be fitted.Oh ....I have to say a thank you to the forum again....while looking for A N fittings to plumb the car, someone had posted info on a company called Torques.....to be truthful I had my doubts over quality,as fittings tended to be 1/3 to 1/4 cheaper than Earls.....I sent for just one fitting....lets just say the whole car will use Torques....Thats enough rambling.......wish you all a great New Year....speak with you all soon.................

I did mine all in Torques fittings too, the black ones go especially well on a black car.

Nice job on the master cylinders!

Montyman...the guy is in Wales about 45 mins away....I've arranged a visit to get all the fittings I need....I am going the black route to keep the car in 'period'......some guys think AN fittings are a 'new' thing, but I've got some photos of Indy and Sprint cars wearing them in the 1950's.......

Re: Duratec powered vintage Sprint car

Joel......this is a retirement project,so a finish time has never been an issue, this was somthing to stretch me.....I'am still parts collecting at the moment, and where as all our homegrown parts are not a problem, some Stateside bits are a little elusive......front brakes, steering wheel ,pitman arm,and a thing called a Jacobs ladder are the next on my list....could see it in paint and threads by the summer, but no pressure.Although I have another 10 cars in my head....I want to build a sports rod (a hot rod under a sports car body)before I get to that big scrap yard in the sky.(collecting parts already).......cars I am considering are Turners,Devins,Kellison or a Cheetah,.....who knows?

Haven't done a lot this week, but did get my breather plate finished. The thermostat housing Anguz made for me and the breather look cool.It will be plumbed into a 'puke' tank along with the breather from the cam cover......this will be mounted on the fire wall.
