......well my backing plates turned up today, and I even had enough time to fit them......result.....
they........suit.......that............peeeerfectly
that was definately worth the wait, you must be well chuffed with them.
its not dead till it's buried!
T.I.T engineering. "Feel the power!"
caprimental......you don't know the half......the backing plates are modified to accept ''newer'' brake shoes, and are machined to fit the 1959 Buick drums, and then machined to fit the 1940 Ford stub axels I am using.....(these parts are getting a little thin in the ground,to say the least)...now the guy that finds all these parts, and puts the backing plates together is very ill,and it is unlikely he will be around to make another set. I am so moved by car guys who will just not let you down.....it humbles me...
Awesome project mate
Cracking work going on with It
.......kind comments from a fellow Welshman.......
.....isn't life a bitch, when I needed front brakes,I wanted a set of Halibrand Lobsters......well just when I got my hands on the Williams Welding brakes.....I got a call from a guy who had heard I was looking for a set of Lobsters.......he had got a lead on a guy who had some.......now these are rare parts, and at $2500.00 a set.....not too bad......my initial search started about four years ago,and they have just come along at the wrong time. That's just life......

.....caprimental.....I'm in two minds to trade up, those Lobsters are trick......but,don't think my pockets are that deep at the moment.....and you know what they say ''he who snoozes looses''......
I quite like the look of the drum you have now buddy
Trig, you are right.....the drums are cool.....its a matter of a ''bird in the hand''......but at least I know if I need some Lobsters I know where to get some... ...

Trig....I've been doing a lot of forward thinking....so that means I've not got to do any work at the moment.....
Things are moving on,and I've just ordered 20' x 3/16 T316 stainless tube to plumb the brakes...this stuff makes beautiful brake line, and then a visit to Alex at Torques for the flexi bits,a few fittings from the States, and thats another job ticked off....
Oh I just came across this photo of my perfect Twin Cam.....thought you might like it.......
Bit to bling for me buddy.
Trig...a bit of bling.... with 100 hp per pot...
.....its seem like an age since I did any work on the Sprint, but the Vette needed some long overdue work, and this took a lot longer than I expected.I was lucky to get a chance to work on the Sprint in the summer, and managed to finish the left side of the car...all the Dzus fasteners have been fitted, the dry sump tank fitted and plumbed, and I have made the exhaust bracket. Its been tacked, and awaits the chassis bracket to be made and welded to the chassis rails....now I only have to finish the right side, top and bottom, and thats the body finished...now that winter has set back in,don't know when I'll get the chance...

.....the scoop for the oil lines is giving me some grief.....I think something smaller will be better.....love the 3/4 rear shot of the car.
.......forgot to post the pics

Looks cracking buddy
...thanks for the comments....and thank you for a great day out Trig, shame I got called away.....your dad is one cool dude..
.....haven't done a lot of work on the sprint...the Vette has taken over, but I try and get at least one ''good'' job done every month. This month it was the prop.It is difficult to mate U.S with U.K parts sometimes, but this was relativly easy, once the parts were sourced. The problem was the diff and its yoke size...any way my good friend Andy down in Barprop's sorted that out,and its done...

.....any one had any experience with stainless props?
...finished off the right hand hood side....only get some louvers punched and its done.....
looking good
This things gona be awesome
....only a little more body work, and I have to work on the fire wall.....it will not have a transmission tunnel, and I am not sure how to get this sorted yet....not happy with the pedals, and this needs some work, but its getting there, although slowly....
This is a great looking project

....seems like an age since I worked on the Sprint car,but travelling is nearly over, and I will be glad to settle back down in the garage. The front end has been painted, and all finished off,and at the moment re working the brake pedal so that I can use two cylinders. As soon as it moves on a little,I will show you.(this gave me a big smile, now Josh and his friends hope to go 200mph @ Bonneville in this......talk about out of the box )

............they are taking this to Bonnerville next week too.....broke class record @ 187mph,but could not make return run to take the world record....
That first car is bizzare whats underneath the skin?
....small block...V8.....could be a Chevy, but I think it could be Chrysler....(next time I talk with Josh I'll find out)...
.......Luke.....just your average sprint car motor....410 cu in...900 hp..................Chevy
Hi bud good to see this again don't forget I got another track day at Combe if your around 27th Aug.
.....hi Trig ...how are you?.....going down to my friends farm in Tuscany .....not sure if I will be back in time....if I am I'll be there......thanks mate.
......here's a shot of the painted front end....also had some Halibrand pressure plates cast up for the wheels....been side tracked with the Vettes failed water pump......Water pump took an age to get, then decided to rebuild the matching numbers original...changing the pump on early cars is not easy, but went really well.... (although took a day to carefully remove the fan shroud, fan and pulleys)..then the radiator failed,so this is being rebuilt, and should get it back tomorrow with a bit of luck.....(sorry I missed your day out Trig....catch you on the next one...)
