Re: Duratec powered vintage Sprint car

.....this year has flown, and to be honest, not much progress made. Not going away until Amelia Island in March,so I'll have a chance to get some work done.I have managed to a a few jobs....modified the engine mount rubbers to fit through the frame, got a set of knock off's that had to be refurbished and repolished(a dirty job)these are on the car and look OK.Sorted out my accelerator and injection linkage, and have re visited the brake system.Going to use two cylinders instead of the single I was planning on using, with balance bar and check valves. All the body panels are now finished and ready for paint, and thats where I'm at.....now I never do lists until its time to bust it all apart for paint and detail, but I'm getting old,so the list has began...

Maybe when I'm retired I'll have the time to build a hot rod of some sort.
Always liked mk1 zeyhers but would do new chassis and fit supra engine.

Re: Duratec powered vintage Sprint car

....bending tube is not that easy.....but after a couple of fails got into it.....I found it better to make bends in smaller sections....trying to make double bends is hard. Most of the progress this year has not been that noteable, and I found myself going over parts that had already been sorted (or so I thought). The clutch pedal works well (at least on the bench)...the handbrake cylinder is ready to mount....and the accelerator mount and pedal sorted. The brake pedal and cylinder mount is still on the '' drawing board''...got all the brake lines and fittings, and reworked the engine mounts so they go through the frame. The grade 5 bolts will have their heads cut off, threaded to take nylocks, and welded to the rubber plates. All the fuel lines are sorted, and Alex from Torques is going to pop down to help plumb swirl pots, filters and pumps.....I have cut the 3mm firewall, and hope to get this bent and installed this week...

Re: Duratec powered vintage Sprint car

Hi bud I'm not shore what there like inside if there's some dark art or special shape they need to be but as far as I know they just hold a pot of fuel to stop fuel surge ( so you don't get air in the fuel lines).
I would say if your making one make it tall thin with the main feed to the pump at the bottom.
Did a quick goggle search images but not much of internal pics on there.

I'm shore someone on here will know how they work

as long as your lift pump flow exceeds the demand of the engine/whatever the main pump delivers, you can get away with a small pot.... long and tall will work better than short and squat

    how much room you got?
