Hi,
Not sure if this is possible, especially with older cars, but hopefully someone can help me
Last summer I bought another Scimitar project, one year older than mine but with a galvanised chassis so no rust even though it had been sat in the owners garden for 15 years, and quite rare being a SE5 not a SE5a
Unfortunately the owner had lost the log book during this time, but there were number plates on the car and a chassis number on the chassis, and the number plate came up on the vehicle enquiry service, so what could possibly go wrong!
To cut a long story short, it turns out the number stamped on the galvanised chassis doesn't match the DVLA records (looks like the chassis was swapped in 1995) , so 6 months later the DVLA are saying it will have to be registered under a Q plate and have declared the number plate on the body to be void
Working on the principle that the chassis is the ID, I would like to find the registration number that belongs to the chassis number and apply for that instead...
The Reliant Owners Club (RSSOC) haven't got it on their register and all Reliant Factory records were lost in a fire many many years ago
Anyway, the chassis number is 451598 and according to Glasses Guide SE5 chassis numbers ranged from 450741 to 451734 it would have been manufactured in late 1970 so should have been registered as a J reg, and should be yellow!
Answers on a postcard!
Thanks
Gavin
