    Duratec crankshaft washers

    Hi all,

I am putting back together a duratec that came with the head removed etc. I need to put in new diamond coated washers 1 before the timing chain sprocket and after it before torquing up the front pulley.

Burton sell them at £17 a pop ok, but if they are a service item why is it only burtons that sell them a usual look on ebay etc shows nothing. Does this make sense ??

This is currently a standard engine so i dont want to got othe effort of keying that crank etc at this point. Just throw it togther with new gaskets valve seals etc and see how i go.

    Any advice appreciated.

TBH, on a standard engine we never change them

I have used the newer Ecoboost Duratec cam washer on an older N/A Duratec, you could try your local Ford dealer to see what the current price is

    Duratec crankshaft washers

So here is the double twist. Bit the bullet and bought 2 new washers and debated with Burton who sent them first class for £2 less.

As you can see they are not Cosworth items just standard ford items now thats cheeky. I wonder why i moan about them.

Went to fit them took the crank sprocket which i removed to give it a wipe off. Guess what ? the missing washers were stuck to the sprocket in oil.

Someone has it in for me !!
