pmsl @ yes i am 37!!! your like me, a proper kid
I was going in really slow on my first set of tyres as they were 155's and had literally no grip
That metro is rapid by the looks of it.

gutted about the batterys!!! Never had any decent video of mine!
As an update, pulled the head off today, 4 bent valves....2 exhausts in cyl 1, 2 inlet in cyl 2 which have also cracked the guides, the head on cyl 1 has been dented by the loose piston which spun a little in the bore and got squashed into the head deforming both! 99% sure the rod bolts snapped on rod 1, the cap has come loose and hit the block at least 3 times as theres 3 holes, at some point it has dived in the path of the balancer shafts (twice engine speed so 10-12k rpm!) and got very stuck....split the block from the cambelt end to at least the end of cyl 3, stopped the shaft and in turn the oil pump that drives it, in turn jumping the belt a few teeth to bend no 2, in the mean time the crank has hit the lowest part of the top half of the rod and squashed it into the head! Im fully expecting a sump full of scrap and a very bent rod. Hopefully the sump is still in one piece as it has a windage tray bolted to the main bearings and then i will have a cam cover and sump to sell....that is all thats not fucked
So just some new oil and maybe a head gasket change then boi. She'll be brand new.
Haha i wish, i was thinking some chemical metal and a bit of block weld just to be sure, headgasket is 3 layer metal gasket so that should go again after i hammer the valves back flat!
This is gonna be expensive
Surely cheaper just to buy a pre built unit with all the work done?
Sorry to hear that dave gutted for you.
I dunno mate, its trusting that the work has been done if its a private sale/trusting the builder to not mess it up/robbing a bank to pay for it!
Hoping to pick up a low mileage complete lump, i can sell a fair amount of the bits that i wont need to get back some of the high cost for the engine! Then il have the best base to build a 600hp capable core that will be bomb proof at the 400hp i can run with the current turbo and injectors but also being future proof if i want to go to the next stage ever. Failing that il take what i can get my hands on if its cheap enough as im chucking away the insides and that puts money in the pot for the extra machining costs and oil pump etc. My brother built the engine in his 3dr and thats proven itself, so between the two of us it will be a walk in the park and save a lot of the build cost.
Dave i did ask at castle combe but was too excited to listen
What power was she running, just so I can sit in a pub and say my metro stuck with a ?bhp evo
Good luck with the new engine
xflows just catch fire instead!! Not sure which is worse!
And as for power for the pub for the metro, its supposedly 339hp 289lbft if you trust the road dyno printout from when i had it mapped!
Ha as its the pub why not, but it shouldnt be anywhere near that, 400hp is around 1.9bar and I'm only at 1.5 and on 95 Ron not v power!
So you should be sorry, it's your fault for keeping up that helped it let go!!
trust me bud, i'd rather have my little brew up than what you're facing. i priced mine up last night and its a grand tops - including all the lockwire i gotta fit to stop the b*st*rd fallin apart next time.
sorry for what you're facing, hope you get it sorted soon
Bernie
your lucky, i cant even pick up an engine for that! (I say that but i have hopefully got a nice deal coming off where im getting a lot of a wrecked evo 7 or 8 for not much money...engine included, we will see on sunday!)
As for the metro blowing my engine, luckily as i dont drink i have no pub to brag in! Also it was whilst catching up to lawrences golf that it expired (not that your car helped much with the bolt fatigue!) With mine at 400/400 which is what im hoping to get to with the rebuild youll be in trouble, just dont pop it trying to keep up!!
sounds like a nitemare!sure youl get it sorted tho dave
