    Phil Price Mk3 4x4 Escort

I thought I'd start a thread on this car as google doesn't seem to bring up anything about it and I suspect someone on here will know the car, or maybe remember it when it was rallied.

I believe it was a 4x4 mk3, possibly ran a v6 back in the day then Cosworth.

I thought it could be quite a interesting thread IF any info or pics turn up of it.

Maybe one for Gary as he seems to have quite good knowledge of the older cars ( not saying your old or anything Gary )

I was taken on some 'hot' laps round Phil's rally stage years and years ago in this, I don't think it was V6 powered back then but it was fooking quick!

If its a mk3 then it may be a gartrac g3. They were built after ford stopped the mk2 and the fwd mk3 was a bit lame. First ones were rwd with a 2.2L pinto twin cam. Then the BDT went in (rs1700t) and also the 2.8 v6 4x4 was fitted on some late versions, but most were only 2wd. The one your on about may be a converted 2wd ? Depends on build date.
Has it got the fuel filler hole behind the rear number plate? These were the road cars.

Have a look on Gartrac website.

It wasn't a Gartrac, Phil built it himself that much I do know of.

He said the custom driveshafts for it arrived the evening before its first rally, was apparently a serious bit of kit.

Really does seem to be limited info on the car !

Co-incidentally, I was sorting through a few photos today and found these two of my day at Phil's rallyschool, probably sometime in the late '90s.
Sorry they're a bit shit but we only had a shit camera back then!

This is the MK3 he had, I seem to remember it was pinto'd at the time.

The 4x4 Escort you're on about is the ex-Allan Edwards car with 3.2 or 3.4 litre Cosworth GA V6 engine.
Phil Price built and developed this car I believe it is now fitted with a Cossie YB Turbo.

It has a cut down atlas axle at the front driving shafts to the front hubs. Normal FF Atlas on the back

Also it is one of the cars Ayrton Senna tried in the 'Triple C' test, along with Phil Collins' Group A Sierra Cosworth, a Group A Vauxhall Nova etc

I thought he said it had a live axle on the front. That's a very cool looking car
