AP racing brake kit with Dust seal/boots

In the future and perhaps when the AUD bounces back a bit i would like to upgrade the front brakes on my mk2.

Unfortunately due to regulations in Australia we need to have calipers that contain dust boots.

Ideally i would go a cp4567 kit but as these dont have seals its a no go.

Ive been looking at the cp5100 caliper as a substitute. From reading the tech diagram they seem a larger in over body size caliper but also that it is aimed at larger disc. Could the cp5100 caliper be used on the 277x25mm disc used in the other kits aimed 13 inch wheels? Is the CP5100 suitable to such a smaller disc then what AP advise.

Currently i am on 15 inch wheels but i would like the option to downsize to 13s if i feel the need.

Any advice or guidance would be great.

Have a look at the cp4567 could you have a bit of machine work on the caliper to fit the dust seals,i think it depends on how close the piston seal is to the face

Ideally i wouldnt want to buy new calipers and risk machining something incorrectly.

In essence i am wanting to know if i can downsize the rotor a cp5100 can accept to the 277m disc.

I dont think you will get it on a 277mm disc under a 13" minilites have the best clearance ,you could attack the caliper with a file

But do you think it would be ok to mate the cp5100 caliper to the 277mm disc? AP suggests the caliper has a rotor size of 295 but makes no suggestion at what the smallest disc usable is.

    I don't think it'll make much difference.

The point Rick is trying to make is that even if you could use that caliper with 277mm discs they still wouldn't fit under a 13" wheel anyway, and I'd agree with that aswell. Mine with 267mm discs under Superlites and Revolutions is tight enough, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get the extra 10mm under them.

Cut a round disc 295mm then cut a disc 277 put the 277mm disc ontop of the 295mm disc and work the rest out

Thanks, i get your thinking now. I was using 13s as a guide but i am currently running 15s so i do have to space to move.
