    20XE drysump F2

    Hello everyone

I'm doing the winter service on my Reynard unfortunally the last run also destroid my engine when the seal of the oililter
    came out.
I'm building a new block for it and I just compared the original conrods with some new steel H rods. There is a small whole missing
thats lubricates the cilinder bore. Isn't this necessary to get sufficient oil to the pistons?

I'm not an expert with the XE but thats ofthen the case with forged rods. The oil escaping from the con rod journals is supposed to lubricate the bores.
Noticed the very same thing with my SE engine. I've had had no issues with the forged ones.I'm running dry sump too.

ran them with no oil hole in several 240+xes and 400-500+bhp lets with no problems. if paranoid though im sure could put them in yourself?

There is also the possibillety to install piston bottem cooling jets on the main bearings.
This means drilling some holes in te engine bock aiming for the piston and instaling small
jets. Now iff this is not really a problem I would rather not do this job risking oil pressure drops and
    engine faillures.
    Thanks for sharing your experiances

Again I'm no expert but I'd say they are not necessary by any means. I believe their main purpose is to cool down the piston crown in a turbocharged engine.
When a 200 Cossie block is used in a N/A or in a Pinto appliction the oil squirts are often left out.

I've got consernd because I read that with a drysump system the bottem end runs in a small underpressure, vacuum.
But that won't mean that all the oil slusching around wil get sucked to the bottem sump.
    Oil soes stick afterall.

    Thanks again.

no need for under piston squirters, never fitted them to any high revving xe or big power LET. just blank where the dipstick goes and weld up where your oil filler cap is ment to be and other breather outlets.

Dry sump will suck a vacuum to your crank case and all the oil dripping down to the sump is sucked away. But as the crank spins and lubrictes the big end bearings it will throw oil to the bores and lubricate them. But theres no oil puddles in the engine.

@philip2 : Why close the oilfillercap?
As I wrote this question My brain starts to work and you put the oil in the tank of the drysump system!!!
    Homer would say Dhoo!!!!

Has somebody got a spare spiess engine cover for the formula cars, I think those don't have a fillercap not?

    Kind regards

    Ivan

have a search for john read engines, he may be able to supply a welded up rocker cover for you...or you can atleast see how hes done it as there are a few of his engines for sale at the moment on ebay, motorsport ads iirc
