Re: zetec mk1 on bike carbs (Eventually)

Ok as mentioned before drivers side not as bad but still amounts to the same repair as the passenger side..

Before cutting rear floor needs new piece let In above the chassis rail joint the Inner sill Is ok but the floor has pin holing a good way along It close to the Inner/outer sill joint so thought It best to lob It out..

    Before..

    IMAG0800.jpg

    After..

    IMAG0803.jpg

    IMAG0804.jpg

Cut out piece from above rear chassis..

    IMAG0807.jpg

And zingad the front and rear chassis..

    IMAG0808.jpg

    IMAG0809.jpg

Welded up front and rear patches to complete rear floor..

    IMAG0812.jpg

    IMAG0814.jpg

Onto the Inner sill In with the seat belt anchor and Jacking point (rescued from old Inner sill)

    IMAG0839.jpg

    IMAG0840.jpg

Re-shaped the front of the Inner sill as I did with the other side for a better fit..

    IMAG0843.jpg

Cleaned Inside outer sill and zinga'd..

    IMAG0846.jpg

    IMAG0848.jpg

    IMAG0850.jpg

    IMAG0851.jpg

Zinga'd the Inner sill (gave It a good roughing up 1st make sure It will take to It)

    IMAG0852.jpg

Small repair to the bottom of the bulkhead..

    IMAG0856.jpg

And In with the Inner sill

Re: zetec mk1 on bike carbs (Eventually)

So left with the front floor to do..

    IMAG0872.jpg

Repair panel cut to suit and added 45mm to the end holes drilled for plug welding to the chassis..

    IMAG0873.jpg

    And welded In..

    IMAG0877.jpg

    IMAG0878.jpg

    In with the seat box..

    IMAG0880.jpg

    IMAG0881.jpg

    And time for another hole

    IMAG0889.jpg

    Which I then filled..

    IMAG0895.jpg

Kurusted as surface rust was on the tunnel I'd had It so long lol..

    IMAG0896.jpg

    IMAG0897.jpg

Ive bought some carbs too from a zx9r 2002 model with TPS sensor Im waiting for them to be delivered..

    Until the next time

Re: zetec mk1 on bike carbs (Eventually)

    Cheers guys
I have a small welding list left I'm going to tube the chassis where the front x member bolts on as Ive run quite low an ripped a x member off before (clumsy I know lol)
Finish welding the panhard rod tower/strengthen
    Roll cage foot plates
Trim floor up around tunnel from Underneath/Gearbox mounts and lever hole and thats about It..Unless I fancy cutting somthing else lol

Ohh...and I just remembered I have to cut the sill closing panel out on the drivers side as Its been damaged by someone jacking the car up on It

Dont know why I ended that with a moo just thought Id try It out

Doing an awesome job so far bud! Very nice. And dan at danst engineering does a real good job on the manifolds too! Again, zx9r carbs are one of the bedt to use, and having a tps, works good with megajolt if using ut.

yeah my carbs are zx7r /zx6r only down side to mine don't have a tps on them so gonna have to think out side the box when i get my megajolt i was thinking putting the tps on the throttle pedal

Re: zetec mk1 on bike carbs (Eventually)

Couple more boring roll cage pics..

    IMAG0977.jpg

    IMAG0978.jpg

Added a new Job to the list and decided to do It right away lol...

Removed heater bubble for a looksie..

    IMAG0979.jpg

Not too bad only a lil surface rust..

    IMAG0981.jpg

And kurusted ready for next potch..

    IMAG0983.jpg

I think I will rivet or bond the bubble back on as with the shoite weather we have If I plug weld It Im afraid It will rust out In no time

So new list Is re attach bubble finish the 2 small pieces that need letting Into the rear arches Fab a bracket up for remote servo under the dash and fit mex flares to the front wings....I'll get there In the end...

your certainly doing alot of welding bud , does looks damn good though and thought out well like the mod in the gearbox tunnel for the heater , how much more you gotta do till you can start mucking about with oily spiny noisy bits?

Cheers mate, Next up fit mex flares to front wings (Im also going to widen them a tad help cover the wheels) I'll swing the eng/box In then to sort the gearbox mounts and hole for the lever..Then I'll mock It up a bit at a time brake pipe routes etc so I can get holes drilled before paint..

Wish It took as long to do It as type It out tho lol

And the danst eng manifold turned up as you can see Its a little better than Ushermotorsports Twin choke lash up..

So now I have pretty much the same gear that was used In this Install (Taken at classic ford show)

Ok had a few spare hrs this week between shifts and thought It would be rude not to visit the garage

Cut a mex flare out of an old wing and clean It back..

    IMAG1066.jpg

    IMAG1068.jpg

Some cleaning back and trimming so the arch fits nice..

    IMAG1067.jpg

    A little test fit..

    IMAG1069.jpg

    Tacked on ..

    IMAG1070.jpg

    IMAG1071.jpg

Found a good metal Jigsaw blade In my airsaw did the Job well for the next bit

Trimmed altogether to allow butt welding..

    IMAG1076.jpg

Slowly but surely making my way around..

    IMAG1078.jpg

    IMAG1080.jpg

Until Only the arch piece required Is left..

    IMAG1081.jpg

Welded up and flap disked to death lol...

    IMAG1084.jpg

Think I'll do the other side the weekend and ponder the best way to widen them a little without making It too obvious (If I do decide to lol)

    Onwards and upwards
