    Pinto spray bar bolts

Seems I have mislaid the bolts that hold the spray bar on, they may be over the barn where I keep my cars but I can’t get there right now so...
    what thread/size/length are they?

Thanks Graham, the bolts I have are to long but also felt tight when I tried to put them in.
I will clean the threads as they may have previously been put in with some lock tight.

Ok, 2 possibilities, I’ll pop out with some bolts and a tap and gently find out.
    The length was particularly useful.
    Will report back.

    Re: Pinto spray bar bolts

I gently ran an M5 tap through the holes felt loose but cleaned out a bit of gunk.
Ran an M6 tap gently through, this was tight and being a tap not a plug would only clean the first few threads, blew out the holes then using an M6 bolt gently worked it in and out so definitely M6.
The centre bolt hole took the 12 mm bolt but either end bottomed out with 2 mm protruding.
Next step is to shorten all 3 bolts to the recommended 9 mm.
Well I have time on my hands.
Thanks for all input which made me proceed with caution.

    Re: Pinto spray bar bolts

    Final post for info.
I shortened the bolts and trial fitted without spray bar, middle bolt fitted at 9.3mm without bottoming out, bokts either end bottomed out at 9mm with about 0.5mm of thread still showing, this may be because the cut bolt does not taper slightly at the end. I cut both outer bolts back by 1mm to 8mm and they went all the way in without bottoming out. I fitted the spray-bar and all looks good. I will take the bolts out tomorrow add some thread lock and torque up.

why not just stick something in the hole and see what the depth is?

I shortened the bolts to 9mm but I think the thread is not to the bottom and the oem bolts have a taper on the end anyway I dummy fitted the bolts and adjusted as required. Now all fitted, don’t hit the bearing on Bearing 1 and 3 Bolt in to middle cam post is below the others and does not go anywhere the bearing.
Pinto Is off the engine stand and waiting to go in the Lotus replica. Duratec now on the engine stand for the Fisher Fury that should keep me occupied through the lockdown.
