    Rev counter with Lumenition PMA50

    Hi,

The build is almost done now and on to sorting out some niggles. One of them is the rev counter (I have this tach https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/produc...ducts_id=24722) is bouncing all over the place with the tach signal connected to the coil negative, which is the same terminal that the PMA50 connects too.

I saw another forum post that said to try a zener diode which I've done but it didn't help.

Anyone else have the PMA50 and a working rev counter?

    Thanks

There are two types of those revcounters from that link, for pulses from ECU or from coil.
    Which one do you have?

Good question. Not sure exactly. I got the dash panel pre-assembled from ebay the same as this one except it was in original outer housing also https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-ESCO...p2047675.l2557

Which rev counter is needed for this setup?

    Thanks

Lumenition PMA50 is compatible with any rev counter that works on the negative side of coil, so that should not be the problem.
Check if there is a partnumber of the revcounter and ask seller.

Rally Design sent me the wiring diagram for both the ECU and coil tachs and the wiring and config is the same:

    ECU:

Click image for larger version Name:	ng200.JPG Views:	30 Size:	61.0 KB ID:	85416

    Coil:

Click image for larger version Name:	ng200b.JPG Views:	30 Size:	77.5 KB ID:	85417

I guess there are internal differences?

Messaged the seller now so hopefully he can confirm what it was but I would assume it would be a coil type.

Can't you see a partno on the back?
NG200 is for ECU pulse, NG200B is for coil pulse.

Just pulled it out and the back and sides are completely blank. No stickers, writing or indents anywhere. You can’t open it up to get to the PCB without damaging the outer shell either so no idea which version it is unless the seller gets back to me.

Which one will work with the electronic ignition?

For the Lumenition you need the NG200B as you take the signal of the coil.
