Is BESTEK ignition systems in business ?

    Dear Friends,

As the title suggests, I am wondering if Bestek is in business ? The reason I am asking is because in their web page the price lists have not been updated since ages.

Then, my second question is, although I have always heard good things about their products, has any of you tried their completely new Pinto distributors ( not only the ignition system/module ) ? The reason I am asking this, because I have heard that there are very inferior reproduction Bosch distributors in the market from China.

I would very much appreciate to hear your comments and experiences and the availability of a properly manufactured repro Pinto non-vac Bosch distributors.

    Stay safe !!!

    Hi Leon,
I haven’t send them an e-mail yet as I would like to understand the repro distributor situation as well from member’s experiences.

    Hi Hawk,
They also have a social media page, but doesn't seem to have been updated in a while:

Their distributors look like reproduction Bosch but have all the Bosch markings on them.
And from memory Bestek have a good name to uphold.
It's the reproduction items that companies like Accuspark and Powerspark are selling that are Chinese copies.

Thank you very much. Seems their FB page has not been updated over the last few months but they may be busy on production or R&D. Apparently, they have made their own billet Xflow and also Pinto long time ago.

I also heard good things about them but would be great if we can confirm it here. I saw billet Xflow and short Pinto distributors at their FB page.

I have found on ebay with 283772082158
This unit based on the original ( probably refurbished) Bosch unit.

I have a Bestek recurved distributor for dcoe's with the electronic module bolted onto it (which i believe is a cvh module)

I bought the whole kit and caboodle some 10+ yrs ago and its always worked o.k.

Surely it doesn't matter if it's reburbished, it's the quality of the reburbishment that really counts.

Certainly agree, a quality refurbished Bosch unit would be way better than a Chinese copy. Apparently, Bestek mentioned about the mistakes on Chinese units. But I believe donor Bosch distrb. becoming rare.

I've got a bosch dizzy, it was originally part of a micro Dynamics set up ignition system years ago. But the Dizzy itself is now fire damaged so only the bare casing would be useable really.

Re: Is BESTEK ignition systems in business ?

I had the Micro Dynamics kit on my Pinto engined rally car in the late 1980s.

The electronic module was replaced with this Bosch one when I put the dizzy in my RS2000 in the early 2000s.

This module is much, much smaller than the Micro Dynamics one. It was used on Australian Ford Falcons in the late 80s.

Another option could be H&H Ignition solutions. I've just been reading some good reports on their FB page.

True. It would be unfair to forget the HH. We have also used their Bosch Pinto distributors reliably before we switched to ignitor ( versus the OE type ignitor system which is found in the Sierra etc ). HH is a great company in terms of distributor refurbishment. Certainly thumbs up!!! However, I am not sure if they have their own “ ignitor “ units or “repro Pinto distributor” if it is needed. On the other hand, they may have plenty of serviceable OE units in stock for various makes.
