    mk1 mast cylinder sizes?

    hi
I have capri 2.8 M16 front calipers and sierra Cosworth rear calipers and discs, I have .625 on the front and 0.7 on the rears but brake pedal is very hard with very little travel
Should I reduce mast cyl sizes or reduce brake pedal pivot radius??
    Any advice appreciated!
    thanks colin

thats how a bias box is supposed to be! and how most competition cars are preferred! if you can find smaller cylinders that will increase travel, but you already have fairly small cylinders, i would consider fitting a remote servo to the front circuit

Thanks Graham, I did build a kit car car a few yrs ago and had the same size master cyls on it and the brake were very good, I can only put it down to the ratio of pedal so may look at reducing this to give it more travel!

escort has a poor pedal ratio its only 4:1, other types of pedal box are often 5 or 6:1

It's a common problem that's been covered on here many times including one in the last couple of weeks. Many fit a bias pedal box with competition pads on an Escort and suddenly expect their brakes to chuck them through the windscreen when they press the pedal. Many competitors suffer the same fate however the brake pedal does improve has the brakes get up to their optimum working temperature but they are never going to have the power of brakes on more modern machinery.

    Hi Colin

Excuse the random response to this ... I think I might have bought the Hurricane which you previously restored!

Would love to get in touch and pick your brain if that’s ok with you?!

    Cheers!
