    Thoughts on lhd cars

What are folks thoughts on buying lhd cars. I know they won't be for everyone and they will probably never make the same money as the rhd equivalent but other than that?
Does anyone own one, what are they like to live with.

I've owned a few (not old Fords) and you get used to them pretty quick.

    Biggest problems are:

A: Overtaking though if you plan it properly it's generally ok
B: Car park barriers if you don't have a passenger

Might be worth getting insurance quotes too.

I have a LHD BMW which I used daily in the Uk for 5 years. It was easy to get used to...the only downside were exactly the points mentioned by Baron von Teuchter. I recently acquired a LHD MK2 Escort and was debating whether to convert it to RHD ..........I'm going to keep it LHD................Good Luck

    Thoughts on lhd cars

Back in late 80.s I had a LHD rover vitesse 3500.
Only prob I had was overtaking.
And passing a cop at 130mph. Ha ha.
    But I loved it

Only drove one once, got to be at least 40 years ago, probably a 100 mile journey, a slow old diesel and trying to overtake was scary. Something faster may be better but its not for me...

If you've manual window winders, you may occasionally go to change gear with them

I had an Escort Cosworth Rally car that was LHD, on one occasion I came round a tight 90 left into immediate hairpin right, I quickly went for the handbrake with my left hand which where my drinks bottled was attached to the door bars on the roll cage and I grabbed that instead. My brain had had fade and forgot I was in a left hooker.

I once drove a lhd Karmann Ghia for the day-got used to it pretty quickly but didn't have to deal with ticket machines or drive thru's etc. and overtaking didn't really come in to it as it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding! But I could see it being a possible issue if you had to overtake.
