    rerouting the steering column

    RACE CAR only!
has anyone had any experience with re-routing the steering column. I have a few reasons for exploring this.
    • Firstly to realign the column with driving position
    • to lower the steering wheel as I'm so low in the car at 6 foot+ i can barely see over it
    • I sit so far back my reach for the wheel is compromised.
    • Id like to avoid the floor mounted pedal box
    • form some type of collapsing segment in the spear aimed at my head
    • make more room for the turbo dump pipe
Im thinking relocating the bulkhead penetration with a pillow ball mount to where the old brake booster rod went (hole behind brake pedal)(not using an escort pedal box) shorten the existing column and provide an upper mount from the roll cage dash bar to get steering wheel in the right place. Then a universal joint at the bulkhead to a short column section which attaches to the steering rack uni. Each uni will be at less than 25 degrees...I think!
    Any thoughts or experiences?

Contact Roger Hicks at Power Steering Solutions.
He can make you up a bespoke system with collapsible column.
I'm sure he could do it without the EPAS system, so wouldn't be very expensive.
Might ask you for your old column.
Roger is very easy and helpful to talk to and will give you the advise you need.
Quality if work is also of a very high standard.
Take a look at Facebook, Power Steering Solutions.

If you pm me a number for Whatsapp, I can send you a bunch of pics of mine on the bench and installed.
For some reason, I have difficulty posting pics up on the forum, even with them compressed.
