old engine is a new build from JEM, came with nothing in hole! for sure though is 1/4 NPT after looking at thread-thread many thanks for that. Now just need 1/4 NPT plug with 1/8 BSP hole in middle, will have a rummage around Listers Motorsport tomorrow.
Bin there,.. starts and stops after 2 turns, not happy going in! Am sure now is 1/4 NPT.
Need some killer seats to finish build. Melting my eyeballs earching tinterweb!
Unless Spa have changed the design of their sensors since I last fitted a set, the larger sensor is just a pressure sensor, not a combined pressure / temperature one.

That makes it an even more expensive red-herring
Whilst rummaging around tring to find 'oil ways' noticed this well used copper washer on sump, so changed for dowerty washer. Looks like it had seen action on many engines.
Made some alloy panels for my 1st MK1 Escort and still had some extras in garage after 15 years. Could not fit properly without removing roll-cage though! Removed all bolts but did not want to budge,... could see £ signs with ensuing damage, so made some ABS covers instead! Still have the card ones if any good to anyone as a freeB?
Changed all roll-cage bolts from Hex to Cap heads whilst at it. Stronger and look better! Although my back is buggered from getting in the poistions required to fit inside and out.
Rest of carpet removed, going for the nakid look!
Finally.... sorted oil temp sender. Screwed in 1/4npt with internal 1/8bsp adapter. Into that went 4 way with SPA fitting in top and norm Ford oil sensor in bottom for seperate warning light. Am now the proud owner of huge box of spare fittings, NPT, BSP, Metric, Metric fine and JIC
Splash-bowl to body required angled spacer. Made tapered wedge spacer from plastic and fitted. Now nice and toooight.
Last job of day, had a few minutes before divorce solisitor rang! Used old track rod from Kart to make alternator adjuster, with left hand and right hand threaded rose joints, so can wind out and adjust tension.
Goal of day was to wire up fans. Need this lot to power, rated for 100% ON so a little over the top! Made alloy mounting plate using new works cropper just wired in, Saturdays are great lol. Will go somewhere around here?
Wired up outside of car to test, cheers Paul. He's the works sparkey because he's got the best knees Both fans running was sucking nearly 30amps!

Will make rubber mounting in the week, and wire in properly. Nearly finished!

I know…. Feel like an expectant Farther (in fact that was easier). Still waiting for Dizzy upgrade at Alton, they are waiting parts V frustrating but should be top job!
OK guys need advice on the best oils for all areas of car? Looks like Castrol B373 for LSD is best, what about engine and GB?
Oh, and how much oil to put in LSD?
What type of diff is it? Plate or viscous (quaife type)?

You're right Graham, I was not thinking straight there!
Castrol B373 for the diff. Fill it till the oil comes out of the filler hole.
75w90 semi or fully synth for the gearbox (assuming it's a type 9) Fill the same as the axle.
A good quality fully synth oil for the pinto, but only after it's been run in for 500 miles on 20w40 mineral oil. There's lots of opinions on what grade is best for long term use, but something like 10w50 or 10w60 racing oil will be best. The Higher the number after the W, the better.

valvoline 20/50 is the best stuff to stick in a pinto engine
Ok, been off the project a few weeks,... finally got correct oils!
Rubber mounted fans and set up correctly. In doing so however dropped an 8mm spanner in here, now sitting right in seam. Hummm any ideas?
To fill diff oil had to make 11mm square tool.
Fitted both rad hoses, bottom one was V tight, had to break out the boiling water and soap! Added these spacer washers to rocker cover as slightly distorted.
All fuel lines and breathers now done. Also wired up fuel pump and earthed loom.
Do i leave these holes open in bell-housing?
Seen a few black grills and planning on same, mines not the best! Cleaned to paint (back came up nice).
Wiring still giving me a few problems, slowly working it out though! Stickered up switches roughly whilst i still remember what goes where.
Rad hose makes perfect holder for coil, whilst setting up ignition.
Dizzy in + HT leads. Used original holes for coil mounting for now, dont like drilling shell if not needed! Starting to look finished now, going for 'fire up' next week. Seats should be delivered also!!
Looking good!
Those holes in the bellhousing were originally plugged with rubber grommets. Reproductions are available but I found there weren't a good fit and have a tendency to fall out!

The 'special Post Man' delivered 2 of these today! Not to everyones i know, however theres a VERY long story behind them...... Has taken a long time but worth is in the end. Many thanks to Steve the seat man (mob: 07769313597) top job!
Well i did want something different!
At last she was fired up!!! Had a little help from Roger the local mechanic for timing and de-snagging. Had a few fuel leaks to sort, needed to change glass bowl on Kingfilter as would not seal so swapped for original steel one. Started on 4th push of button, well chuffed (and surprised lol). Note Rog grabbing T mug and jumping from spitting carbs (b4 tweaking) . Also had couple of crossthreaded spark plugs to sort. All worth it in the end.
Ooo also new rocker cover (tin was warping) and heat shield on half of under bonnet, like nighmare wallpapering,...
