Fitted rocker cover yesterday. Had to make a tool to bend the cover out to meet bolt holes. Found some M6 S/S cheese heads which look nice.
I usually work on 2 strokes, bikes and karts so excuse me if its wrong, any advise is more than welcome!
Suspension will be getting a lick of extra paint!
World cup cross member and Hi-spec breaks.
Some work to do in here!!
Found light cover. Elastic band has long since crusted over, threaded some mig wire through for now.
See hole for bumper, should there be a bracket here?
6 link rear suspension. Not sure weather to keep the slipper spring or re-fit the coil over damper?
Fitting prop before exhaust. Stripped prop bolts so waiting for tap to clean out! Is a bugger working underneith on axel stands!!
Sierra dipstick was a sod, only works at a certain angle! Once angle found had to bend tube to miss manifold.
Fitted manifold and twin 45's, trimmed gasket to suit. Need to purchase linkages and cables now for carbs!
Anyone know what type of air filter i can fit on breather tube?
Now tracing cables from the SPA clocks, hummmmm.
Kart makes a good parts bench!
Tucked up for the night.
ah man u covered her up b4 i had finished, lmao stunning motor mate, is this all your own work or a unfinished project??? either way i like alot, top class, as for the filter id use a small k&n type thatll just slide on can be got from most motor factors, are u not gunna vent the rockor covor? if so you can also buy a cap that has a tube on to breathe threw, any way dont be shy with the progress, and that kart looks fritening
very nice indeed
Unfinished by 2 owners, 3rd time lucky for her!! Thanks for info about breather! Kart is great, last but one race had a crash at about 110mph, tripple 360 into tyre wall, came out on 3rd spin and dragged around track, then bodyboarded to medical center, unbelieveably nothing broken, losts of twists, sprains and bruising tho, that was the main reason for getting back into Escorts. Hope to do some hill climbs when shes built, will feel a bit safer in a roll cage lol.
Am now sourcing alloy boot mounted fuel tank with JIC fittings + plinth etc. Not sure whether to have seperate swerl tank? Must help with fuel delivery, seem to have many ports?? Have seen some using 2 red-top pumps in-line, whats that all about, a back up??
Got it, low pressure pump b4 swerl tank (pot) then high pressure after. How low pressure is low pressure pump?
so your a loony basically??? lol youl fit in well then,.
Very nice looking car mate
Cracking looking car, and looks like your doing a pukka job mate
Old skool forever
Just don`t tell the wife
how much it really costs!
are you brought it,lovely car this mate.i was going to look at this at mike's but you brought it lol.hope you get it done mate it deserves to be finished.needs a big turbo strapped to it tho fella lol.keep the pictures coming tho mate
looks very nice, but please tell me you covered that cam with cam lube before bolting the rocker cover on
Correct cam lub now winging its way from ebay. Thanks Graham. Thought a liberal coat of WD would be ok!
Looking to run long water hose in front of rad, was previous owners idea and seems good! However now carbs etc fitted is a bugger to fettle if want to remove hose. Thinking of splitting under slam-panel and fitting joiner piece (knocked up in dinner time boss) for ease of servicing. Also fitting grommets where hose feeds through steel and mk1 fell out so going bigger (photo), but a swine to install, so splitting hose should help. Seems like a lot of wortk for a hose I know, but i've started now so will continue (unless i stab myself again with the screwdriver arrgg).
Fitted prop at last!! After going through all of the sizes in the universe found they were M10 x 1 metric super-fine, and after stripping bolt thread (difficult fitting with 8" of clearance and pipecleaner arms),... new bolts please, had to get a tap to clear out holes in diff plate. Anyhow, is now in/on correct bolts & tight!
Have threadlocked, but is someone gonna tell me needs locking washers?
Gearbox support bracket, been modded to suit engine position. After prototyping been ground back & welded up super strong (overwelded even). Has now been taken away by the magic fairies to Wolverhampton for zinc coating (Indians, flip-flops, fork trucks and poisonous gases HOW? We had a bollocking from H&S for using an extension lead on a fan???)!
Was fitted with M8 8.8 tensile strength bolts which seems a bit soft, will put in 10.9 TS. They'r not made like the old days now they come from China baby!
1st job for tonight, fit carb fuel hose and join in pressure reg. After parting with this years holiday money (see small cardboard box), the first part of the fuel line is in, haven't got tank yet but wanted to see it on. Will make a nice bracket to support reg later, can imagine it smashing itself to pieces with tickover vibration alone!
Big question now: Fuel lines IN or OUT of car?? Was going IN until man in Listers said this hose leaks fuel vapours... "How much time you planning on spending in the car" he said, "if its just a quick Hill-Climb you should be OK". Then he tells me about a Rally Navigator who apparently passed out halfway through a stage due to sitting over these very (hugely expensive) items.... Clearly not wanting to be overcome by unleaded fumes am now pondering best course of action??
PS: Would not like to build up hoses for a living, note to self; must work on wrist excersises much more!!
Looking good there mate
Personally I'd run the hoses outside the car, or run hardlines inside the car with bulkhead fittings.

2nd job complete thermostat re-build. Cleaned up alloy casting, obtined gen Ford parts from the bay, sniffed out stainless M8 bolts from hallowed ground that is the company stores (+ washers) and even utilized for the first time my copper-slip lipstick thingy pilphered from Loctite Sales man Mr Nice but Dimm, yes of course its something I need for work cough!

Cheers Boss. Figured something similar, thanks for confirmation.
That car looks the dogs m8! Good luck finalizing Shouldn't take too long...
Got rad back after having 19mm narrowed from width so didnt have to chop the original rad mounts out (which i really didnt want to do). Rad looked much better 2nd time around! Big thanks to Lee from Boston rads who modded with new flat sides. Slips in like it grew there!
Rocker back off and coated with correct cam lubricant! Now more thoughourly lubbed then Loui Spenc's Butler.....
Didnt like exposed cables on start sol so attemped to rubber boot, on and off 10 times boot too small, trimmed to hell. Is now on and better waterproofed though.
A shot of rad inside, will make bottom rubber washer.
Went to Autosport show at the NEC sun. took several hundered shots mainly of engine bays and exhaust mounting etc. Some good stuff though, food for thought!
Was going so well, then i got all distracted lol
A few goodies from the show, was V restrained!! Body clips M5 from Probolts to sort out grill fixing. I had the M5 S/S flange dome bolts in store, but well done Dawn at Probolts for trying to sell me some v expencive bolts (very good artist by the way). She said they was looking at kits for Fords etc as so interesting or even loyalty cards, will keep stealing them from work until some1 locks the stores lol! Filter needed a tickle to make inner bore larger. Picked up rad cap and lovely knob!
ah the autosport international, such a prick teasing place, didnt go this year but always wish i did tho,
coming along wicked fella
