I also had a small pile of parts I've collected so pulled the engine back onto the stand to bolt some shinny new parts onto it.

    Re: How's this look?

Hi guys got the engine started at last after sorting out all the problems but as always sort one thing out another rears its head...

the clutch is engaged all the time so had no drive if I slacken the bell housing bolts off can just about get it to bite so the gearbox is back out need to make the slave cylinder about 5mm shorter...

The plan is to machine down the inside on the bell housing where the slave cylinder bolts to plenty of meat there this sound ok to you lot and has anybody else come across this problem before???

can you mill the back of the flywheel were it goes on the crank or a snadwich plate from the gaerbox to bellhousing

The clutch still bites quite high can this be adjusted on the peddle at all by winding the cylinder arm in/out???

    Re: How's this look?

Adjusting the pedal end won't change where the clutch bites as such, only the pedal position, of you want it to bite low near the floor you'll end up with a pedal 3" off the floor and looking like its well under the others. Only option is to machine off a bit more like you have already!

    Re: How's this look?

thats good news what you can try is one washer on the bellhouse bolts to see if it helps with the bitting point if it works you can use two sandwich plates

    Re: How's this look?

1 thing i noticed when setting up mine was that if you havent got any free travel then as soon as the clutch starts to get worn the fingers of the cluch cover
as they move out will be in constant load with the thrust making the cover lose its clamping force
    its a balancing act
i think i ended up with 10mm that the fingers could move out befor binding
thing i could of done with knowing was on a fully clamped new clutch how far the fingers need compressing to realease drive 5mm?
ill find out if my guesses were correct when i get to start it

As has been said, there's not a lot you can do about the bite point, but I'd recommend fitting a stop on the pedal to avoid the risk of pushing the seals out the slave, or pushing the cover fingers into the plate.
