Make gauges work the proper way

Hi im looking for some help in advance as this is what I did; I took apart a capri gauge cluster and am working on fitting them in the dash and console of my escort. What im after is how do I make them work in my car properly. Sender units and the obvious oil pipe and speedo cable i know, but ive read somwhere that some problems may come when you use aftermarket ignition upgrades for example and heres where I need the help so I can think ahead for when Im buying parts.

    Engine:

1600gt Pinto and type E box from a V6. It has a standard dizzy, alternator, starter... but I want to convert the points to magnets which I read is more reliable, also i want to use a more realiable ignition coil etc...I hope you see where Im headed.

So, can someone guide me through this as Im really not good at it?

I didn't write this question in the best/most understandable way so HERES THE SHORT VERSION: what would you do in my case? what dizzy/coul and other parts needed would you choose?

Help a young boy out thank you

So you’re happy with wiring all the gauges in. Nice work btw. Like that gauge dash you’ve made
Personally I’d fit a “Lumenition” ignition pack. It removes your points and replaces them with a photo sensitive diode. It gives very accurate timing that doesn’t suffer from wear. As far as a coil, a suitable good quality one. I used to run a Bosch coil with again good quality HT leads and plugs.
    Does that help ?

Hi there Zak! Of course it helps, I'll take a look if I can find a good coil and leads somewhere near. As for the lumenation kit, do i understand right that I need the Ignition conversion module and the fitting kit for the dizzy? anything else? Does the coil pack need to be the right one to go with this kit or will any decent one do?

The Lumenition kit comes with all you need, the distributor parts, ignition pack which includes a ballast resistor for the coil +ve feed. The sets are still available new. In the UK Burtons sell them ( I got mine there in 1991)
There is a specification in the Lumenition instructions for the coil.
    It’s straight forward enough.
I had a little look on line, and seems lumenition can now supply a coil as well. If there’s an advantage to that I’m not sure. The Bosch coil I had was at the time a very good one. Getting good quality parts for the ignition including plugs and HT leads is money well spent.
I set mine up on a mounting plate with the ignition pack, ballast and coil. It’s not essential, but try to set it up where the ignition pack gets plenty of air around it for cooling, a mounting plate will help as a heat sink.
I’ve attached a pdf of the Lumenition instructions.
Please ask if you need more help with this
