RS?1300?1600?what struts do i have???

hi mates,

i´m currently restoring my rs2000 mk2. during restauration of my front suspension i noticed the rs2000 bearings didn´t fit into my hubs. so i ordered the smaller ones which fitted in. i´m now concerning weather my front struts are rs2000 res ones or 1600 or 1300s. i wanted to install carpri mk3 2.8 calipers and vented dics. i´m not sure if those will actually fit onto my legs at all ... does anyone have any pictures of the different struts? what are the differences?

Yep they are not RS ones as they don't have bolt on steering arms like RS ones should have ,,,, so they might just be 1600 sport ones

And no. Capri calipers won't fit those. But to be fair, why would you want to fit capri calipers anyway? They're no better than RS ones as they're the same caliper with a spacer fitted between them for wider vented discs

Any ideas, weather its 1300 or 1600, Because i'll have to Order New calipers. Or will i Be able to take both?

BTW. I have some vented discs for the rs2000 lying around, can i use those on those?

Another question: i thought all escorts had m16 brahe calipers. Or is that wrong? If i can use 2.8i (which i thought to be wider m16s??) on an rs2000 leg, Why can't i put it on my strut? I'm just asking Because it Would Be much cheaper to buy 2.8 calipers than buying standard m16 plus spacers... Sorry I'm a bit confused ...

2.8i calipers are M16 calipers with spacers. No difference in the caliper itself at all. You can't fit either on your strut because they won't fit.

In the catalogue, (www.motomobil.COM) i usually Order from, they sell the Same caliper for 1,6 ohc and 2.0 liters and another Caliper for the 1.6 ohv. The brakepads i ordered (2.0 and 1.6 ohc) fit into my calipers. Any Chance its a 1.6 ohc leg with m16s? Or did the 1.6 ohc also have bolt on steering Arms? Sorry for my confusion and Thanks for your Patience with me i'll take a picture of the caliper when i'm at the Garage... Cheers!

okay, here are some pics:

those are the old discs and the new, vented ones i had ordered. the discs were titled ohc 1.6- 2.0 . they have the same diameter: 24.5cm


and this is one of my calipers. distance betwenn the mounting screws is 8.4cm (center to center) . diameter of the piston is around 5.8cm. as i said i ordered some rs2000 (catalogue: ohc 1.6 - 2.0 liters) pads and they fit well.


so can you say wether it is an an m16 caliper? thanks very much!!
