    Re: My Zetec POP

ordered a new windscreen and went to pick it up last weekend but broke down on the way back

this was a new manifold that i had welded up 4 months ago, i then used exhaust wrap to keep the engine bay temps lower, i knew that this could cause rust but i was expecting it to last at least a year or two
ive ordered some tubing and it is all in stainless this time i do not recommend using heat wrap on anything that can rust.
but since it is off the road i have ordered adjustable top mounts, adjustable tcas to fit to make it nicer to drive.

i am also in the process of megasquirting it and putting zx6r throttle bodies onto it, which will be interesting
just need to do a bit more research

i also put my bonnet v on that i finally finished because i was annoyed that things were breaking and not getting fixed

    thanks for the comments

Nice manifold. Did you buy a pipe and bend it or pre bent lenghts??
And the wee plate and sleeves where did you get them??
Oh and I miss the orange wheels

    Re: My Zetec POP

the pipe were pre bent lengths which i had to add some length too.
the sleeves are just bits of larger diameter pipe i had and the block of aluminum is what i used last time i welded a manifold, to stop it from bending from the heat of the welding

just to let you know that it isn't just rust you need to worry about with the header wrap. it actually concentrates the heat at the first bend of the pipes on all headers that are wrapped and it beats the living hell out of the pipes and accelerates the rusting as well but it weakens and makes the steel very brittle and it fails. did you weld your seconds set of tubes with stainless wire in your mig welder? I hope so.

although not ideal, ive welded up many a stainless exhaust using normal mig wire, it works ok never had a problem, although obviously the weld goes rusty where as the pipe doesnt.

    Re: My Zetec POP

i got stainless wire to weld with aswell, so hopefully no more rusting

for my alternator i used the original cast aluminium mount, and the original tensioner, but i mounted it in a different place. so all in all it cost me a new belt and a bit of angle. most of the time you will have to swap the zetec alternator for a lucus type alternator, for this you really just need to look for one that fits the original zetec mounting bracket

    hope this helps

    Hi,
I used my brothers escort and made a wooden template. I used the same geometry as the escort.

    Thanks,
